I’d be open to bringing Arteta in. He’s only 44, so still very young and learning his trade. He may not have gotten Arsenal over the line in terms of winning the league, but he’s been up against Guardiola with an open chequebook and a strong Liverpool side built by Klopp. He’s taken Arsenal from not even being in the conversation to legitimate contenders, which is still a fair achievement.

Doubt he’d be interested in us tbh, but if he did come here I could see him managing a cup win given some time and money.
He has spent over a billion at Arsenal and if he wins nothing this year and gets sacked why would you want him at Everton?

The same reason Chelsea went from Ranieri to Mourinho

The same reason City went from Hughes to Mancini, or Pellegrini to Guardiola

Same reason Liverpool fired Rodgers and got Klopp in

We should aim to have the best manager possible at any given point. If Moyes thinks he can move us in next season and get us into the top 5 and challenging for trophies (which would be progression on where we are now) then let him have his final year. But if he’s going on about how difficult it will be, some great teams ahead of us, we need to remember where we were a few seasons ago etc. then I’d rather just get in someone who does believe they can do it.

Moyes was the perfect Everton manager for his first spell under Kenwright, I’ll never have a bad word about that first spell because we were having European football on a relegation budget and he was probably keeping the club afloat by financially by himself.

The Friedkin takeover changed everything though. We have the landscape now to be a competitive football team. Literally the only thing that could stop us is the SCR regs which were still in a good position on and with clever recruitment could work within.

We should see ourselves at least the level of Villa and Newcastle and neither of them will be hoping for 8th or 9th next season.
This 👏🏻

But both have been linked with Utd. For example Iraola is looking to take his family back to Spain and he is linked with more attractive clubs than us. Also Glasner has more attractive clubs, If we think the papers are correct, are linked to the sky six. So anyone else?

Iraola has dismissed that link last week.

United wont take Glasner. They'll look fir a higher profile manager than him.

Of course that’s their plan. I don’t think anything they’ve done has suggested they are aiming to build a trophy winning dynasty here. They appointed a safe pair of hands as manager and appear happy with the job he’s doing, and they brought in a load of corporate fraudster LinkedIn yes men like Angus Kinnear to sit in front of a camera twice a year and throw management buzzwords at us to give off a surface level illusion of leadership. Aside from that all they’ve done is try and maximise every profit from the stadium possible, while never visiting it themselves once.

People can throw “but they spent £110m” around all they want, but the circumstances meant we had to spend that to have a chance of fielding a first team squad at all this season. As I will keep repeating on here, that is not in any way shape or form a significant amount for a Premier League club to spend in 2026. I’d love to know what people have seen or heard from them or any of their employees since they got here that makes them think they have any grand plans to break us into the elite.

I basically agree with you.

They would say they have strong leadership on the board, and are trying to improve the levels below that.

We will see how well the transfer committee performs this window..

Iraola has done nothing of note as a manager. Both him and Glasner seem fairly mercenary like as well bouncing between clubs.

I'm trying to think what radically better they could have done so far. Kinnear was hired specifically because he's known to be able to maximise income and this club has been poor in that respect, like, always. All of the squad rules are based on revenue so the better it is, the better the team can be. Stadium is the big one but even if Kinnear can squeeze just 20m more annually that could have considerable impact on the squad.

Even if they were here to make a profit making the team a perennial Europe team would be good business.

And let's not forget what the situation was when they came and what the squad situation was last summer.
