That’s the ideal of course but I would 100% take a manager who stayed here 3 seasons, won a couple of trophies, and then fell out with the board and left of his own accord. I’d take that over any of these never ending project managers that don’t ever get over the line.

Obviously everyone wants their own Ferguson or Pep who’ll stay for ages and the good times follow but I don’t want another 10 years of continuous building to 7th place.

We need a manager who can take the ebxt step and get us in the CL and winning trophies over the next few seasons. If that Moyes then great, if it’s not then we need to find who it is.
Iraola averages less than 2 years at a club and hasn’t won a pot.

Whilst Glasner has won a trophy, he hasn’t exactly then propelled palace forwards.

Don’t think either are good enough for the next step.

I think years of mediocrity has clouded people’s judgement of these tbh. Since coming in they almost immediately got rid of an underperforming manager and replaced him, hired a new CEO, hired an entirely new football operations department, spent a decent amount in the transfer window and secured multiple lucrative sponsors that will help elevate us in coming years.

I know the proof’s in the pudding and we’ll see if they truly have any ambition in the coming years but to suggest they’re merely here to tread water and keep us mid table is a bit harsh at this point tbh.

None of this points to they want to sweep up trophies and build a footballing dynasty does it? They are all decisions that have been made with the intention of making more money as a club. The CEO and the recruitment department have no sort of track record in football to speak of. With regards to spending a decent amount, they spent the bare minimum that was required for us to be able to field a first team this season, from a starting base of having 12 contracted senior footballers on the books. £110m does not scream ambition in this day and age, in fact the more it’s typed out on here and the more I look at it, the poxier it looks.

I don’t know about you but I’d take a manager coming in, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield, having us in the semi final of a European competition we are favourites to win, beating Liverpool a load of times including at Wembley, beating a load of the top teams, and then leaving us in mid table after he’d finished.

I’d absolutely take that if someone offered it now as to how the next 3 seasons might go.

Yeah, but how we ended up spending that cash I'm glad we didn't throw another 100m out the door..

This window will show everything. If we don't address the gaping holes then 🤷‍♂️

If I were the owners I’d be asking where the last 100 mill went before giving this team more.

What are they getting for the 30 mill on Barry? The 40 mill on Dibling? Has Rohl been worth what we’re going to pay for him this season? Has Alcaraz given us 15 mill worth of contribution? Aznou? Has George proved to be a good January signing?

One permanent signing worked last summer for THIS season, if all the rest are going to come good in the future then the Friedkins might legitimately say, ‘use the players you have’

The key is who it's spent on. Apart from two or three signings we did not spend £110m very well did we, in fact it may rustle a few feathers but Thelwell could well have spent it better.
Thelwell would have spent it wisely.

With the Grealish fee + Rohl we locked in around £150mil last summer just on fees.

By "key" I'm referring to the owners appetite to spend based on how much were allowed to use.

That was my point mate..

Nobody has time to get a 2nd window wrong, that leaves you with a full squad of what. You end up being back to the start with no room to move..

We have had a year now for the whole department to understand the wrongs of last summer and to collectively understand the approach we are aiming for.
Big eyes will be on this Window..

To be fair I thought Grealish was worth the gamble, unlucky to be injured, but that's not his fault, Rohl it's still early days, but a lot of the players we've bought have hardly played, considering the amount spent on them, which points a finger at our recruitment teams performance and Moyes himself not rotating the squad enough.

I cant blame the scouting at all.

Barry is the only one who looks shellshocked and to be fair to him Moyes system doesnt help + it used to be usually 1 season grace period to adapt.

Two keepers in Travers (£4mil down the toilet) and King (pointless) surely would be on Moyes.

Aznou & Dibling have been treated disgraefully by the coward.

Rohl i fully blame on Moyes who was bigging him up. Anyone watching his highlight reel and looking at his injury history would not understand the deal.

Alcaraz is top notch in the quick transition but weve used a strategy of 'give it to Grealish' to slow the play & used Alcaraz at random and out of position.

Grealish has slowed the play down every match.

4 assists in August
1 goal in October
1 goal in December
2 assists in January

The initial impact aside hes been disappointing imo with the team also focused on him as a focal point.

KDH was exceptional when used as an 8. At 10 i think hes improved but im not wowed by him, at 8 I have been wowed.

Hard to look at this summer with any real belief or excitement.

Did I say they want to sweep up trophies and build a footballing dynasty? The reality is under Moshiri we were incredibly close to relegation and financial oblivion. These have come in and built a very steady platform for us to build on. I’d love them to shake Moyes’s hand in the summer, say thanks for a job well done and go out and appoint a ‘winner’ but just can’t see it happening considering the steady job he’s done.

To add to this, I imagine if he doesn’t get us Europe and/or a trophy this season or next he will be shown the door which is much better than previous owners where we’ve just waited and waited until we’re in the bottom three to sack them
