2025/26 David Moyes

These are the types of games that make owners / players think twice about next moves or next investments.

We win well yesterday we sit 5th.....it asks a question of the board on do they take a punt on January transfers to push for CL or Europe.

Lose in that manner and back to 12th / Mid-table....They don't ask this question above.....they maybe ask a different question around the manager and is he the right one to get the next lot of transfer money.

Same for players, Grealish can play higher than 12th place....by a mile, maybe even he has 2nd thoughts. Will happen with Ndiaye too.
7th.

….yep, hope that he’s not in the least bit interested this time.
I can't imagine they would have the slightest bit of interest in him Eggs. They've tried him before and realised it was too big a job for him so wouldn't panic into a second offering....unlike us. Never been a fan of bringing back people after they've moved on, albeit I'd welcome back Marco Silva if the opportunity arose.

Massively disagree with this.

This season is a Evolution of the team and as such were going to have results like yesterday. But from where we were last season to now is absolutely miles apart in both terms of style of play and points picked up.

This is the season where we sort out the wheat from the chaff. Where we see the players in our squad who are capable of being in a team challenging for Europe and those that are just relegation fodder players.

You can see it on the pitch now. Garner, tim (to a degree), ndiaye, o'Brien(at cb) all players from last season who look like they've stepped it up this season.

Beto, gana, mykolenko, Keane, tarks, McNeil were all starters last season and have quickly shown that they are no where near the level needed to be where we want this club to be.

Hopefully in the summer we'll see these replaced with better players and the team will go up another level again. One that can more consistently play the football moyes wants to play.

This what people need to realise, this team isnt the final destination of a moyes team. Its literally the second step on the journey.

Thats why i cant get too upset at results like yesterday. Im gutted we lost but im also looking at the bigger picture. Also tbh if at the start of the season you offered me 10-13th place and no worries of relegation this year, id of ripped your arm off.

Think people are getting too excited by the prospect of Europe. Its nice to be looking up the table rather then looking down it but without significant investment this transfer window and alot of luck with injuries for the rest of the season, i honestly cant see it happening
And this perfectly sums up the low ambition of some of our fans. Using the word Evolution. Used to be we are transition, need more time, be patient. Very sad this.

Surely this is an achievement in itself?

This time last season, we were staring down the barrel of another final day relegation battle - but Moyes turned it around and we're all looking up the table - as opposed to looking over our shoulder.

If we can bring in a natural right back I think we have a genuine opportunity to finish in the top 10 this season and give ourselves a platform to bring in the caliber of player that'll see us continue forward our trajectory.

Yes defo, and I do agree with you.

It was the manner of the defeat for me, not loss itself.

Is it miles better?

It's better, but then if you or I walked into that place last summer and bought £110M of new players and spent out a kings ransom on Grealish's wages we'd hope to see better than the last 5 seasons.
It just needs to be slightly better for the plan to continue. Moyes isn't here to be successful. He's here to get as many results possible with a squad clearly in transition. There is a 3 year plan the owners are working on which at the end of it we will be competing in Europe under a new manager.

The plan is spend what we did last summer each of the next 2 with youngsters like Dibling and Aznou. Loans will be provided to pad out the squad as required. I've heard the owners will not deviate from this plan even if we were to qualify for Europe this season. Moyes can aim for it all he wants as a personal goal but we would compete in it with what we have unless it was CL which would be the only reason for the owners to deviate.

Moyes is here to stabilize the club only so at the end of the day he may as well target the cups as regardless of league position he wont be here to see these youngsters flourish.

We are working towards 2028 and anything positive that happens before then will be a bonus. Buying a bit of success now would not be sustainable in the long run. The few people I spoke to about this plan recently are very excited about it.

The problem with this is that Moyes isn’t developing the players bought. If anything he is destroying any confidence that they may have had.

If you were a promising youngster you would think twice before joining Everton under Moyes.

How so? These youngsters would have been told any plan before signing. Don't be surprised to see them playing for carefully selected teams on loan next season.

Hugely damaging result - and particularly performance.

Keith Andrews FFS… Seven away defeats in eight. And then that.

Managers are only ever 4 games from plaudits or criticism.

Now more than ever - with 4 points separating 5th and 14th.
I would half that amount.

We have a Manager that split opinions when coming back before a ball was even kicked.

Never a good sign.

18months left on his contract, he will be judged on season ending progress/compared to expectation.

You will all know after the next 2 windows.

This is the exact season I expected tbh. We are still miles off in some areas in terms of quality, injuries have really hit us especially with the timing around Afcon.

Moving into a new stadium was bound to affect our home form.

No Branthwaite for the season so far.

We've had ups and downs in terms of results but lets be honest its been miles better than the last 5 seasons already and not living with the stress fo relegation has been great.

Hopefully some additions in Jan then the Afcon players back and hopefully KDH too.

The overreaction yesterday was mental.
Don't get the new stadium thing, more and louder support should give better results. Being thumped at home should cause a fan reaction. Doubt we'll spend in this window and if we do certainly not enough to get a decent striker and any true pace in midfield and defence,so it'll be months of the same. Which given our recent seasons isn't a bad thing but still frustrating.
