2025/26 David Moyes

There's 7-8 clubs who consistently spend more than us and several clubs who've had 5+ years of stability behind them. We are playing catch up and will be for another couple of seasons yet. If you don't like that reality you're going to make yourself really unhappy.
So, its clear who the 7-8 are who consistently spend more than us, but who are the 'several' who've had 5+ years of stability out of interest?

The people that back him also know what he’ll deliver. Last time out he delivered a regular top 8 finish after inheriting a complete bin fire of a club. However if he achieves that here this time we have half the fanbase ready to move the goalposts to we’re aiming for Champions League, to try and suggest he’s failed.

Ultimately we do need to move on from him at the end of this season, despite the fact he’s dragged the club up off its knees for a second time, while the hierarchy of the football club doesn’t appear to have a clue what it’s doing once again. He can leave with his head held high and say he left the club in a better position than when he found it, for the second time.

Paranoid delusion. There would be no one saying they expected CL football from him this season if he delivered a top 8 finish. No one.

Yeah I agree, think I’ve tried to make the same point less eloquently. You cat have a manager with so much history and people not already have a fully formed opinion of him. Hence the problem of people having any shift on that opinion!

Me: fans should have a settled opinion on David Moyes, and be less susceptible to changing opinion depending on short term form.
You: WTF? we have half a fanbase with an opinion they wont change.

Interesting you think we need to sack him in the summer - despite you acknowledging he's improved us. Why is that?

I'd hope he leaves us in a better situation than what he inherited, given we spent a club record amount - spent more than the previous 7 years combined. Without Grealish factored in, or a £17m (I think?) obligation for Rohl. That to me, along with a more capable manager should see us nudge a few positions upwards in the league from Harrison/Lindstrom et al. Currently, we aren't there - I hope, and expect we will be.

The likes of Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford imo. They also have the advantage of less pressure from fans to ride out difficult periods without the bedsheets coming out.

Because of the stupid toxic divide in this fanbase. I’ve said this numerous times in the past. And also because he is a manager that’s coming to the end of his career which even his biggest fans would not debate.

Don’t worry, he is going to do that. He inherited a team with 17 points after 19 games and tracking for 34 points, so settle down on that one. I was told that was the best that group of players could possibly do at the time, as well. So well done on the outstanding second half of last season David.

Oh and don’t forget to factor in our best centre half missing the whole season when talking about how much stronger we are btw.

It can be a problem, but it has as many positives as negatives. There's plenty who love Moyes. He's got credit in the bank - I mean, compare to the 3 before him.

I dont think shrugging your shoulders after our 3rd time conceding 4 goals at home is response from a manager who thinks he will be here by the end season. Looks like he has checked out.

I do like him, he has brought stability and that after the last few years has been welcome. I’ve welcomed going the game and not dreading it, like you say I think he leaves us in a better place than he found us, hopefully.

Equally I understand why some don’t like him. I’m curious tho was there this wild swing following wins and losses for previous managers?? Or is it that history runs so deep with Moyes??
