2025/26 David Moyes

I would half that amount.

We have a Manager that split opinions when coming back before a ball was even kicked.

Never a good sign.

18months left on his contract, he will be judged on season ending progress/compared to expectation.

You will all know after the next 2 windows.

Surprises me - you'd think if there's one manager in the world who fans have a settled opinion on, it's David Moyes. That should prevent 2-4 game form kneejerk.

There's 7-8 clubs who consistently spend more than us and several clubs who've had 5+ years of stability behind them. We are playing catch up and will be for another couple of seasons yet. If you don't like that reality you're going to make yourself really unhappy.

Sorry, who thinks this? We have half a fanbase who hate him and will not budge from that position, he’s probably the one manager left in world football who never had any chance of uniting the fanbase from the day he came in.

Heard this nonsense shout for many years now. We shouldnt have to wait another month, for wanting and aiming for better

It just needs to be slightly better for the plan to continue. Moyes isn't here to be successful. He's here to get as many results possible with a squad clearly in transition. There is a 3 year plan the owners are working on which at the end of it we will be competing in Europe under a new manager.

The plan is spend what we did last summer each of the next 2 with youngsters like Dibling and Aznou. Loans will be provided to pad out the squad as required. I've heard the owners will not deviate from this plan even if we were to qualify for Europe this season. Moyes can aim for it all he wants as a personal goal but we would compete in it with what we have unless it was CL which would be the only reason for the owners to deviate.

Moyes is here to stabilize the club only so at the end of the day he may as well target the cups as regardless of league position he wont be here to see these youngsters flourish.

We are working towards 2028 and anything positive that happens before then will be a bonus. Buying a bit of success now would not be sustainable in the long run. The few people I spoke to about this plan recently are very excited about it.

Crikey, another summer signing a Dibling, Barry, Rohl and Aznou and we really are in bother. Especially when the likes of N’Diaye, Garner and Branthwaite decide to jump ship because we aren’t getting anywhere.

He arrived with considerably more backing than the 3 managers before him - that's for sure.

But the point you've tried to make there isn't relevant to me. I didn't say anything about uniting the fanbase. I said;

The point then, and one I've made a fair bit since he come back is given he's been our manager for over a decade - people should know, and have a pretty settled opinion on him. Me?

He wins the next 6 = same opinion.
He loses the next 6 = same opinion.

My opinion has been formed on decades of watching his team, not any few month spell.

With the likes of Silva, Lampard, I understood changes in opinion based on shortterm form. But with Moyes, we all know what he is and what he'll deliver.

Not really. Moyes wanted Tete and a striker on loan in the summer, think he was looking at a centre half as well. He will be doing the same next summer and throw in a KDH like signing and and a loan or 2 we will be fine.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see at least one of the 3 you mention being sold as we may get offers that no club could refuse. It would be our decision though.

Yeah I agree, think I’ve tried to make the same point less eloquently. You cat have a manager with so much history and people not already have a fully formed opinion of him. Hence the problem of people having any shift on that opinion!

The people that back him also know what he’ll deliver. Last time out he delivered a regular top 8 finish after inheriting a complete bin fire of a club. However if he achieves that here this time we have half the fanbase ready to move the goalposts to we’re aiming for Champions League, to try and suggest he’s failed.

Ultimately we do need to move on from him at the end of this season, despite the fact he’s dragged the club up off its knees for a second time, while the hierarchy of the football club doesn’t appear to have a clue what it’s doing once again. He can leave with his head held high and say he left the club in a better position than when he found it, for the second time.

There's no world I'd be convinced he can replicate that outside the Brentford setup (yet).

Not in the sense that I think he's bad at all, but the way the Brentford system works and how he is so much a part and a product of that, it's almost impossible to tell from the outside how he'd fare outside it

I agree he’d be a fish out of water trying to work under the village idiot over here.

I think what’s most worrying is how inconsistently inconsistent we are.

We were arguably consistently inconsistent under Moyes first time around. You knew if it was a top 4 team away we’re getting nothing, most other teams away probably draw but we’d more often than not take care of business at home. You could also pretty much name his 11 most weeks and how we we would play with the associated pros and cons.

Now no one can call any result. What we all think is his preferred starting 11 is probably the formation we keeping losing with and gets the worst out of KDH at 10 and Gana and Garner as the double pivot. We look miles better with KDH as an 8 with another 8 alongside him and Garner as a 6.

The plan A at home doesn’t work, but weakened teams have had no problem winning at Bournemouth United and Forest. We look great defensively until the games we don’t when we look like we could be hit for 6 or 7.

I can’t honestly say with any confidence how we’ll play v Wolves, we could sweep them 3-0 but it equally wouldn’t surprise me if they put the same score line on us.
