2025/26 David Moyes

I'm not Amorim fan, but it seems a pointless move, and smacks of Ratcliffe wanting to be seen to be doing something. Not a quick fix getting them back to where they want to be. The squad is so far off it. Plus the issues off the pitch with the ground. You need deep pockets. Anyway **** em the manc ***** 🤣
The madness of football means Maresca will probably end up there, lot's of work to do at Utd they are a proper disjointed mess I don't know who will want the job tbh.

This is the exact season I expected tbh. We are still miles off in some areas in terms of quality, injuries have really hit us especially with the timing around Afcon.

What is it you expected?

My expectations are top 10.

Moving into a new stadium was bound to affect our home form.

Not sure about this - pretty sure the last season or two at Goodison was our worst ever.

[Edit]. Just checked. As an indication;

  • Everton must now beat Southampton in Goodison Park’s final fixture not only to say goodbye to the Grand Old Lady in style but also to avoid the ignominy of bowing out from their home of the past 133 years with their worst record at the ground in the club’s history.

So we aren't missing Goodison.

No Branthwaite for the season so far.

Huge miss, but for me the issue has continued to be a lack of goals. Most of our goals conceded have come in a handful of games when we've completely collapsed. We've conceded 24 in 20 games - 46% of our conceded goals coming in 3 games - 4 vs Brentford, 4 Newcastle and 3 Spurs.

We've had ups and downs in terms of results but lets be honest its been miles better than the last 5 seasons already and not living with the stress fo relegation has been great.

It feels loads better, and it is.

But it then has to show in positional rankings IMO - after earning the points to finish 12th in Dyche's full season, 13th last season with half of it wrote off - we've got to be looking at that top half, no matter how small the margins.

Hodgson was Palace manager from 2017 -2021, taking over from Big Sam. During that period we were not really ever in danger of going down or winning anything. He came back in 2023 after Vieira got the sack. We were in danger of the drop and he steered us away. He started the following season but was really not physically up to it. Missed a game or two through illness and then Glasner joined.
Lovely fella, dreadful football. Regarded with fondness by Palace fans who don't ever want him back (even if he was up to it).

Moyes is our Hodgson.

I want our Glasner now.

Hopefully some additions in Jan then the Afcon players back and hopefully KDH too.

The overreaction yesterday was mental.
Hold on, we're 12th in this rubbish league and we were rolled out of the LC by a team at the foot of the table who played reserves and academy players on the night.

We saw £110M spent on this squad the summer. How, precisely, is this "miles better than the last 5 seasons"?

Nonsense - our home form has been toilet for years mate, got naff all to do with BMD, we’ve just dropped the same form from Goodison and not even got close to harnessing what BMD can give us.

Everything else you’re saying is excuses - Brentford aren’t that good and we’re miles better than us just by being organised and running hard.

This league and the teams in it are dog muck.

It was simply unnaceptable, same as Newcastle and Tottenham - not an overreaction at all, its been building on the hidings we keep getting at BMD.

Is this a serious question?

We are literally pretty much safe already. We have been in a relegation fight for the last 5 seasons.

I expected - a very up and down season tbh especially with the new stadium. I agree we was crap at Goodison for a long time though.

Its half way through the season though and points wise we are much better off than the last 5 seasons so surely that is progress? Not the finished article but progress.

We could still easily finish in the top 10.

Tad disingenous to focus so much on league position at the moment - beat Burnley and Brentford and we'd have been 5th. I appreciate that sounds a bit Dyche "wouldnt be so bad if some of the draws were wins" but it's true - small margins (well, aside from Brentford battering us) - we can hold to account come the end of the season with league placement when there's no excuses.

But we're definitely improved on last season - we've turned a few draws, into wins (thanks Grealish and Dewsbury-Hall!). After 20 games;

W 3
D 8
L 9
17 POINTS

W 8
D 4
L 8
28 POINTS

Was curious so just went through our games this season comparing those we spent the majority with this back 4:

O'Brien - Tarkowski - Keane - Mykolenko

With those where we had a different back 4 (Garner at RB or LB, Patterson at RB, etc)

With that back 4: played 14, W: 4, D: 3, L: 7
Points per game: 1.07

Without that back 4: played 6, W: 4, D: 1, L: 1
Points per game: 2.16

Gosh it sure is a mystery what our biggest issue is. Good thing Moyes doesn't immediately return to that back 4 as soon as injuries allow....oh

I just expected progress on the previous 2 seasons.

We've seen that so far, but for it to be recognised as such - I think it needs to conclude with a top 10 finish. I think it will.

That's what my old gran used to call "tuppence ha'penny looking down on tuppence".

We didn't exploit this season anywhere near as much as we needed to: new stadium, new owners, fans right up for it.

We all know we didn't get bang for our buck in the summer and Moyes was right at the heart of that. If he and his client hacks are pointing to depleted reserves to explain why Everton aren't capitalising on this concertinaed league we can all see that as a poor excuse.

I think a lot of the people who forgot why we wanted shut of this feller last time around are beginning to remember now.
