Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

…the reality is, the squad has been mismanaged with no continuity plans and so many players out of contract at the same time. We all want to see new players but we also need numbers. I’m thankful we stayed up otherwise we’d have been in serious bother.

Posters talk about bringing in back-up signings but I’m hoping the plan is to build from the top down, the aspiration is for acquisitions to improve the team whilst the likes of Young and Harrison will cover injuries and game management. All a bit underwhelming but understandable if this is the case.
We all want this but it’s not the reality. We probably can’t go out and get 11 new players. We have to try and build.

I don’t think offering young a new contract is the worst thing that’s ever happened, but it’s hardly a massive statement of intent from the new owners either. If we’re being honest then bringing Moyes back, keeping Goodison and giving young a new contract would 100% have seen ‘typical Kenwright’ shouts a couple of years ago but we’re all trying to convince ourselves that they’re actually really sensible edgy moves under the new regime.
Depends…if Young is kept but others leave fine. However if Keane, harrison, broja etc are kept/new loan then thats warning signs

It's not FM mate. Change in any organisation needs implementing correctly. You don't just change over half the squad and expect different outcomes. No warning signs just a bit of rigour applied to the transformation of the playing squad. FWIW I don't believe those players mentioned get extended. Broja at a push.

We simply cannot be signing Michael Keane up to a new deal, I’d lose a lot of faith in what they’re trying to do if he does.

I think we should all be preparing for the inevitable.

Over 15 players contracts are expiring through longterm deals or loans , we're not going to be able to plausibly replace all those players through recruitment, loans and youth players alone it would be too much of a burden so not ideal but Ashley Young as a squad player doesn't bother me, he's still effective in small doses. Keane is a costly defensive calamity and should be afforded the opportunity to concede sloppy goals for another club. I know recruitment has been problematic throughout Moshiri 's reign but delving into every detail of the potential summer window and getting anxious on every aspect is going to break some people's mind on this forum.
