Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Yeah so if JP gets hurt you want Begovic to be playing?
No. The post was talking about JP being experienced and an England GK etc etc etc but didn't mention the fact that despite his experience he's still liable to injury. That was the point. Nothing about Begovic, Virginia, Nigel Martyn or even Espen Baardsen. Just about JP.

on reflection Young staying on bothers me a bit less. On the proviso that we will be signing an upgrade at RB. Possibly another or doing some serious work with Patterson to make him the back up RB.. i'd see Young as an experienced head aroudn the ground and someoen whop can play literally anywhere outfield apart from centre half to see out a game.

Keane just has to go. He's a bad player and we need to put some distance on that era. he came in in 217, and we've been a shambles since. Not saying he's all to blame. I just think we reall need a clean slate.

Yes Branthwaite might go, bu if he does it's for a huge fee to add to what TFG are providing. So we should sing a top CB for a high fee to replace him, and we should be signing a promising youngster on a minimal fee a la Stones/Holgate/Branthwaite to come in as the 4th choice CB. And if we cant do that, get another free agent in

Keane has to go

So does Doucoure

A pretty useless irrelevant point then chief but crack on.

Patterson screams a move back to rangers to me. I think it’s time to move him on and properly invest in a serious starter there.

You'd have to think saturday was the final nail in Patterson's coffin really. Being 3rd choice right back behind a centre half and a 40 year old isn't a great look. Some people like to pretend otherwise but the truth is no manager in his entire career has ever fully bought into him being their go to right back, and at some point you have to accept that there might just be a reason for that. Since he's been here he's found himself at different times behind Coleman, Kenny, Young, O'Brien and Godfrey. Possibly Holgate and Garner once or twice I'm not sure on that. Either way, not exactly the greatest list of right backs imaginable and yet he's not been deemed to be better than any of them, I just can't see him making it here now.

I don’t think offering young a new contract is the worst thing that’s ever happened, but it’s hardly a massive statement of intent from the new owners either. If we’re being honest then bringing Moyes back, keeping Goodison and giving young a new contract would 100% have seen ‘typical Kenwright’ shouts a couple of years ago but we’re all trying to convince ourselves that they’re actually really sensible edgy moves under the new regime.
Edgy would be buying someone like Brian Madjo from FC Metz before Manchester City or Chelsea gets him!
