Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Bit mad getting rid of both backup keepers, just unnecessarily making more work for ourselves in an already incredibly busy summer.

It’s such an easy position to fill though, outside of Everton fans barely anybody could have told you who our back up keepers were, the same applies to most clubs. There’ll be loads of players floating round on frees or loans that fill the gap just fine.

Was about to post a tasteless joke, but nah: poor sod - seems like a decent bloke trying to help others. Wish him the best. If he'd have played for us he'd have been cult hero, I'm sure.

If we want an experienced right back, then Young is the clear choice over Coleman. Just from a fitness perspective.

I don’t think offering young a new contract is the worst thing that’s ever happened, but it’s hardly a massive statement of intent from the new owners either. If we’re being honest then bringing Moyes back, keeping Goodison and giving young a new contract would 100% have seen ‘typical Kenwright’ shouts a couple of years ago but we’re all trying to convince ourselves that they’re actually really sensible edgy moves under the new regime.

He did well in the last match. They tried to target him and he ate it up.

I don't think it makes sense to have both him and Coleman extended then. Young is able to stay fit to actually be an available back up that plays a few minutes sparingly.

Meh...Cheap and can provide "cover" for multiple positions. I don't care much one way or another. He hasn't played much under Moyes recently and I doubt he does next season but he can come in in a pinch if needed. It's fine given how many we'll need to bring in.

On lowish wages I don’t particularly mind but it’s more a problem that we aren’t looking to improve that part of the squad. True we can’t upgrade everyone but the floor is what needs improving first. All due respect to AY of course
