Bit mad getting rid of both backup keepers, just unnecessarily making more work for ourselves in an already incredibly busy summer.
It’s such an easy position to fill though, outside of Everton fans barely anybody could have told you who our back up keepers were, the same applies to most clubs. There’ll be loads of players floating round on frees or loans that fill the gap just fine.
 
I don’t think offering young a new contract is the worst thing that’s ever happened, but it’s hardly a massive statement of intent from the new owners either. If we’re being honest then bringing Moyes back, keeping Goodison and giving young a new contract would 100% have seen ‘typical Kenwright’ shouts a couple of years ago but we’re all trying to convince ourselves that they’re actually really sensible edgy moves under the new regime.

On lowish wages I don’t particularly mind but it’s more a problem that we aren’t looking to improve that part of the squad. True we can’t upgrade everyone but the floor is what needs improving first. All due respect to AY of course
