The reality is you need your squad players just in case. I would offer Young, Keane, Dom, Doucoure, all new deals. Just for this reason. If we go out and sign better players for their positions then great but that’s not a given.

…the reality is, the squad has been mismanaged with no continuity plans and so many players out of contract at the same time. We all want to see new players but we also need numbers. I’m thankful we stayed up otherwise we’d have been in serious bother.

Posters talk about bringing in back-up signings but I’m hoping the plan is to build from the top down, the aspiration is for acquisitions to improve the team whilst the likes of Young and Harrison will cover injuries and game management. All a bit underwhelming but understandable if this is the case.

We simply cannot be signing Michael Keane up to a new deal, I’d lose a lot of faith in what they’re trying to do if he does.

Definitely Young and Keane as I think they’d be happy as experienced backup and on low wages

Doucoure and Dom would be high wages and I just don’t like watching them play football

What would that say for someone like michael keane if he is happy to sign a new contract.
Surely at this stage of his career he wants to get out there and play?

…he’ll be looking for a deal that pays him the most for the longest period of time. There are ordinary players sitting on big contracts throughout the league, they don’t leave just to get game time. Can’t blame them really.
