Tell you what, actual come up with a counter argument or get lost lad, because that right there isn't debating, it's just pure sh*te :) Tell me why the FA Cup/League Cup means anything and give examples as to why, there's a good chap.

You just said nobody over the age of 30 cares about the FA or League Cup, and you're saying i'm talking pure s***e ? Pot, meet kettle.

And btw, you're the one making a claim, you need to provide evidence. That's how a discussion works, burden of proof lies with you.

However, i would say that all of the clips of people jumping up and down going mental at Sunderland when we won the FA Cup replay last season indicates people do care about domestic tournaments. According to you those people don't care really, cos it's not the Champions League qualification match.

I'll try again. Tell me why the potential extra 20 games combined in the FA Cup/League Cup is worth doing instead of resting a threadbare Everton squad and focussing on the fewer games to attain a Champions League qualification spot. I need examples - here's one from my end; you get a maximum of £1.8m for actually winning the FA Cup. You get £800k per win in the group stage in the Champions League, and over £7m for simply qualifying.

So the League Cup final and FA Cup final net you a total of £2.3m, assuming you "do the double", whilst winning the Champions League qualifier nets you £7m minimum.

Very simple question.

That's a completely different post to the previous ones you've posted though, isn't it ? That's less 'trying again' and more completely changing the discussion.

I don't actually think the issue is with the effect these tournaments have on the financial strength of the club, it's more your comments that nobody over 30 cares about those cups, or that you would be 'over the moon' at the prospect of an Everton side getting knocked out of trophies.

And finally, you're kidding yourself if you think qualification for the Champions League, or even reaching the last 8 of the thing would have a big enough financial impact to make a noticeable change to Everton in the long run. Look at Spurs, they did it, and where are they now ? Finishing 5th, there or thereabouts. Not seriously challenging the top spots in the Prem and certainly not threatening the Champions League elite.

The clubs ahead of us are miles apart in terms of financial spending, and we don't have the money to make a serious challenge for the Champions League in the long term. The best we can hope for until Bill and Co. disappear is domestic trophies and the occasional European jolly.

Because football clubs aren't about making money, they're about winning things.

You make money, then you win things. That's why Chelsea have bought league titles and European cup wins. That's why Man City have just won the title. That's why Jack Walker gifted Blackburn a Premier League title. etc. etc. etc.

Money breeds success. You win the FA Cup once, and it mean absolutely nothing. You qualify for the Champions League once, and it changes your club completely in terms of finance and European reputation. You win the FA Cup, and your club doesn't change at all. You qualify for the Champions League, and suddenly you're looking at "proper" players. Look at Liverpool - FA Cup final last year, but no Champions League football, and they're buying Fabio Borini and Joe Allen instead of the Xabi Alonso's and Javier Mascherano's.

Sucess breeds success much more than money.

I could point out loads of examples but they're all from longer then four years ago so you'll say they don't count.

Regardless I'd take a bird in the hand over two in the bush any day of the week. Rather win a trophy now then gamble that we might win two later.

That's just not true, or at least i doubt you can provide evidence which backs it up.

I want to be at wembley and watch us win a cup final mate. I was too young in 95 and all I have as memories is Distin to Suarez and Hibbert vs Malouda.

I guess, I mean I was there in 95, it was a great day, I watched the 80s Finals on the Tele, I went League games when we were Champions.

But I think Tubey makes a point, these days it would benefit the Club more if we finished 2nd.

As fans the day at Wembley is what its all about tho, been 4 times, 2 wins, 2 loses.

Spurs, Motherwell, Hearts and us have all never been in since. Leeds, Newcastle, Villarreal, Boavista and Deportivo were all relegated.

Hell, Apoel reached the quarters of the CL and haven't won their league since. And they play in fecking cyprus.
