Your Lineup against Wigan

You don't seem to understand mate.

The cup is all we have to play for. That's it.

And you want to rest people? Bonkers that mate.

I understand why most you want to top the team, but it's just that it would be bloody depressing if our team is so ****e that we have to play our best 11 to beat Wigan. And who knows, the teams above Everton in the league might get a dip in form.

So we play a weakened team just to prove we can?

No, I thought that the City game was a few days after the Wigan one, so I'd rest some of our key players to minimize the chance of losing, for example Mirallas and Gibson for the semi. But as I've already said, with a 1 week break between the games I'd play Mirallas and Gibson against Wigan.

......we tend to win with Neville. I know this is unpopular, but Neville to start at RB for me. I suspect Mcmanaman will play left side and he'd be a danger.Duffy would be a massive gamble, so I would go with JH. Saying that, Scharner has got form against us and is very useful in the air. Centre fireworks is another poser, might just give big Vic the nod.

I'd personally put Duffy in for Jags but we all know Heitinga is going to play. I just hope the fans don't let Moyes off the hook if we get beaten or even fail to win and Heitinga gets skinned by Kone yet again.
... what if Duffy played and we lost? Would we let him off the hook then? Would these two? ...

Sorry, but calling for Duffy in a quarter final ahead of a world cup final centre half is too far ... there is no way I'd throw Duffy in ahead of Heitinga. Not even with his current form.

to put Duffy in without having given him a proper run in less important games would be a sin

Even among us fans we can't agree on what to complain about.

If we lose he'll be criticized for his team selection no matter who he selects. Because we lost. If the team was different we would have won!* If he dropped Neville and played Barkley and we lost there would be people who would not "let him off the hook."

* Or lost even worse ... but nobody ever mentions that.

Sometimes in life you just end up with a crappy situation and a crappy choice. You make your crappy choice and hope for the best. When Jags is injured we end up with a crappy choice where either answer could be right or wrong. Anyone who thinks playing Heitinga is a significantly worse choice than Duffy is being a bit silly.

If it makes you feel any better we have a similar "crappy choice" up front too. ... no idea why that would make you feel better though.

But we're more likely to lose to City than Wigan.

It makes no sense.

Fellaini has to drop deep for this one. If he doesn't we'll be massively overrun in midfield, Wigan usually set out the 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 either way they have a lot of bodies in midfield and he will help to curb that, push ossie further forward to unlock their defence and hopefully creates chances for jelavic

we could set up like this:

howard
coleman distin heitinga baines
gibson fellaini
mirallas osman pienaar
jelavic

OR

Howard
Coleman Distin Heitinga Baines
Fellaini Gibson
Osman
Mirallas Jelavic Pienaar

Do you really think that Moyes would save either of them against City? I chose the line-up because I thought that we had a busy week with several games, and didn't want to lose our injury-prone because of that. When I checked our fixture I changed it to the normal first 11 (except for the defence). Hopefully this will be understandable now, so this thread can continue as a "Your Lineup against Wigan" thread.

So you'd rather leave players out against Wigan than against City?

But your arguement made no sense as to why.

You wanted to rest two important players in a cup quarter final.

It's bonkers.
