Your Job?

Only got a little part time job - but i love it, and as soon as im 18 i can hopefully get a job in Goodison - (i know the manager of one of the catering thingys)

I'm unemployed at the moment, and things aren't looking that rosy on the old job front. The problem for me is that I've moved to a country in which I do not really speak the language. However, I am now enrolled on a full time course so things are progressing on that front. Still, it will takes a couple of years to master the language so god only knows what i can do in the meantime. :(
You know a bit about IT, don't you, neb? What about an expat guide to Denmark using your experiences, stick it up on a website (or a blog, if I'm wrong about your IT knowledge) and stick some Adsense and ads on it. Or travel, if you don't fancy the expat thing. At the worst it will give you something productive to do and at the best you might find yourself with a nice monthly cheque.

I work for Wincanton and they've just lost 1000 jobs on the Argos and Culina contracts out of Trafford Park and Gloucester because the RCD's are closing. Woolworths was another of our contract so things aint looking too clever right now. The only concilation for me is I do supermarket deliveries and we all need food. We've just taken on more drivers at our place and theres still a lot of agency coming in so it seems pretty safe but you just never know. Besides that its easy work for £12 an hr. In fact probably the easiest job I've ever had. The 1.30am starts can be a bit knackering but I can live with that.

Think that's why you get 12 quid an hour for easy work mate, a lot of people (myself included) couldn't

I understand that mate but someone has to do it. Might aswell be me. Least the roads are empty at that time of day so it does have a plus side.

I'm sure it has many plus sides, £12 an hour being 1 of them & easy work being another. I'm just saying that a lot of people couldn't put up with the hours so that's probably why you're raking it in for easy work, wasn't having a go or anything

Didnt think you was having a go mate. You have a good point (y)

I'd be shattered, Ray. I'm getting up at just before 6 a.m. and that is bad enough. I remember once working nights down in London, and after about a month I felt burnt out. I just couldn't handle the difference. And then going home in the morning I used to suddenly wake up! It must take some strength to keep it up, mate.(y)

Out here, £12 or £13 an hour is minimum wage. The thing is, the cost of living is actually the same and perhaps even cheaper if you can avoid spending on a car (which is double the price, although that is set off against a house which is half the UK price).

Always makes me mad when I see how bad the minimum wage is and how undervalued workers are in the UK. It doesn't have to be like that at all.

You sort of get used to it John. By sunday night am plooked but I do 4 on and 3 off so theres plenty time to rest. Besides I can pinch 3 hrs sleep each day in work so that helps a bit. Pisses me off when I'm going to work and the local boozer are just kicking people out for the night tho.

Over here it doesn't cost £40 for 5 drinks, it's swings & roundabouts mate

[Poor language removed] this i'm moving to Denmark, fancy a lodger for a bit

I currently (and for the last 5 years) work for a well known window manufacturing company based here in Norwich.

Its [Poor language removed]. Well kinda. Its like most jobs really i guess, has its plusses and its minuses.

The most important thing for me really is that i get on with the people i work with. First place i've worked where there are no assholes to put up with (apart form management obviously lol), we do have a good laugh during the day.

Can be quite hard work pushing heavy windows around all day but its pretty relaxed in my area so i can stop for a cup of tea when i want.

Just a shame i'm on the lowest paid job in the company with no prospect of improving that.
