No, he said teams come to us and play the counter-attack against us to devastating effect. Use of devastating is a tad OTT, but you can't deny this is something we are susceptible to, irrespective of the final scoreline.

Sorry, I should have have typed a bit slower for the slow on the uptake.

The failure to win the drawn games against Hull, Swansea and Baggies, plus squandering the two goal lead against Arsenal, have had a "devastating effect" on our points tally.

Even then we will still be 12th!!

Against City, West Ham and West Brom we have looked a more solid outfit and shown lots of spirit. We never looked like losing any of those matches (response at West Ham was fantastic).

Palace will come at us a little bit more, we have the players to nick a goal in that context whilst hopefully defending stoutly at the back.

The derby will be a scrap and everyone will be up for it, plus it's a night game at Goodison. Liverpool will come steaming out of the blocks at us, I see that as an opportunity to really get everyone together, standing up to be counted (more likely after a win against Palace).

This may leave us still only in 12th, but I think spirits would soar to a much more comfortable place, bereft of panic! We're not going to qualify for Europe again via the league, but a mid table finish can be slightly balanced out by a good go in the Europa League starting with Young Boys.

The crisis is everyone fretting over relegation. 4 points in the next 2 matches will lift the spirits of everyone at the club and have us thinking more positively.

I've been to many of them. A Goodison night derby however is potentially a different kettle of fish from anything in recent times.

If only Wigan would have sacked Martinez 12 months prior to there relegation, They could be up there fighting for a top 6 finish now and not fighting to stay in the Championship, They quality of the team he had at his disposal and he couldn't keep them in the league speaks volumes

I think clubs such as Wigan, Burnley, Leicester see premier league survival as a successful season, and not necessarily a top 6th finish, as due to their finances a top half finish would be totally unrealistic. They would probably be happy to hit the magical 40 points asap. Martinez took Wigan down with players such as Kone, Robles, Alcaraz, McCarthy, and a couple of other half decent players. He had a massively supportive chairman and a pretty good modern ground. Wigan are struggling in the Championship due to a reduction in income, due to relegation, and the quality of players available to them.

We have had a really bad season, remarkably similar to Wigan`s last premiership season, with much better quality players, and more money than Wigan. I only hope we are not going to be saying "if only we had canned Martinez earlier" at the end of this season.

Mourinho was manager of barca B team, a first team coach in winning sides for many years with Bobby Robson and assistant manager before getting the big job of benefica manager... Ferguson is a legend but he isn't even assistant manager, he's been a first team coach for under a year. It would be ludicrous to fast track him to first team manager.
