Seems everyone knows insiders all of a sudden
I'm only conveying the mood from within the club. Kosher. Take it or leave it. I will add that the conversation confirmed much of what has been speculated about on websites and in the Press -- RM's obstinacy, player splits, players now looking for away etc.

The way Southampton play is how I think we should be playing. They don’t fanny around at the back with centre backs that clearly can’t play football (Jagielka and Distin) although Stones is an exception to that. What a fantastic footballer that lad is. But yeah, the best teams mix it up, unless it’s obviously Barca who have had the same football culture bred throughout the club forever. We’re asking SPL level players like Naismith to turn themselves into Iniesta and it’s just ridiculous. That’s why I hope we can scrape by this season, and then we need to see big, big changes in philosophy from Martinez in the summer, he needs to admit where he’s gone wrong and adapt. Like Rodgers did in his second season, he realised there was no point continuing with tiki-taka and so adjusted to play to Suarez’s strengths. And look where that nearly got them
All of these criticisms about the players we have not being able to play the way the manager wants and that this is our problem come crashing down on the rocks of last season's evidence.

It really is a spectacularly poor argument to account for where we are right now.

It's the circle that can never be squared for those looking to detract from (or want worse for) our manager.

Was talking to a GP insider yesterday, and came away feeling even more depressed than ever. Even if the relegation threat doesn't register amongst some posters on here, it's certainly now registering within the club -- and they are crapping themselves.

Martinez has simply got to go -- the risks to the future of the club are just too big if he stays.

We're all living in hope that sometime over the next 3 games the team is going to produce a Wigan-Everton cup moment or a Wigan Cup Final moment out the blue. But we shouldn't be living on hope alone.
:coffee:

The two times we stopped up on the last day of the season :

1993/94 - After 22 games we had 7 wins
1997/98 - After 22 game we had 6 wins

This season : 5 wins from 22 league games this season.

It really does emphasis how appalling we've been, and with a squad that is far more talented. It's a good job there are 5/6 really poor teams.

What's your explanation for our form this season then? Players simultaneously conspiring against the manager to try and get him sacked? Come off it, please

No.

Being 17th and 4 points above the relegation zone is loads worse than being 12th and 3 points above.

Cos if you're 17th you only need 1 team to get it's act together to relegate you whereas if you're 12th you need 6. And I can't see 6 of those teams doing it.

See this is true but the problem is that would be great if here was only 3 games left, there are loads and we don't look like we are going to grind out or get a fluke result any time soon, we haven't got the fight but i fear the 6 behind have. We are so easy to not lose against, we play well against good sides and might get a draw and any poor side who wants to take a point from us, it is there on a plate for them.

I'm looking forward to the remainder of the season then.

A win against Palace and something against Liverpool and the crisis will be over.

I am now choosing to retain my faith for that little bit longer.

Its not really a question of should he be sacked but rather will he be sacked. The answer of course at the moment is NO but that could change if the downward spiral continues.

Or maybe there should be a poll asking when he will be sacked with 'never' as one of the options. That would sort out the wheat from the chaff.
