The longest summer holiday ever only broken by the difficult choices of how to spend all that dough every Saturday afternoon.

Not convinced it's even possible for a club like us to bring in a top striker in a January window. Brands is a friggin miracle worker if he pulls it off.

the only 6'6" giant who can't head a ball. Everton that

...he’ll be a threat in the opposition penalty box, I have no doubt about that.

Interesting point for me is who he will partner. Mina/Zouma is similar to Mina/Sanchez at international level and I think Mina needs that athleticism alongside him. I’d be concerned with Mina/Keane but time will tell. It seems Holgate is out of the picture now.

Holgate is still young and has time to develope
There’s a chance he could be coached as a FB or even an outside chance he could be a DM
At times he looks comfortable on the ball , other times he’s inclined to panic a bit

i'd have said there was no chance of getting a player the calibre of bernard nor was their a chance to get the best young defender at the world cup but we did, so fingers crossed. I just don't think we'll try it this winter myself. I think brands and silva would agree they would need longer to sieve through and determine who would be the most suitable candidate.

There's so many strikers out there, there's one who score loads of goals in one league but will be crap in this league, there's loads who score loads of goals but have excellent playmakers laying them on a plate. There's loads who score loads for a target man, but that's because of the quality of service they receieve.

None of those would be what we need imo. You see players like dolberg who look like they could be the future world star and then next season they show it may have been a one-off, maybe it's because they're young and inconsistencies are normal.

That takes a lot of time and i think in jan the main focus will be a box-to-box midfielder as there's a lot more of them around, it'l be a lot easier to make that decision between august and jan and in the meanwhile we settle on a rotation of richarlison, walcott with the three strikers. I mean is it a good idea to splash out £50m+ on a striker to try and break the top 6, when we'll be better off getting the right striker next summer and be in there for the next 4 or 5 seasons?
