Wyness - Resigned

Can't say we're surprised.

The poor service/coverage/merchandising from the JJB Sports "Kit Partnership" deal alone probably made this inevitable.

Walking into any JJB Sports store - the Top "monopoly" teams seem to get massive centre coverage and Everton's merchandise actually has to be hunted down within the stores.

With the lack of our own club shop facilities this makes this - Unacceptable.

His position was thus weak even without taking into account the K-word (Kirkby).

Worst night ever to promise the girlfriend some "non football" time, only just learned of this. I knew something would happen but this would have been down the list somewhat.

Personaly i liked Wyness. I dont think people appreciate what a difficult job, it is to be a C.E.O. of a Prem club and specificaly Everton. What i always liked about Wyness was he took us over when many perhaps more distingusied names turned their nose up at us for the role, and the club was in a state of turmoil. Like them or not he had the courage of his convictions and made descisive decisons he thought were best. With that i think his input has played its role in the consistentcey and progress of the club, when he came we spent i think below five million on players last summer we spendt 25 mill. I liked how his prudene and accuam perhaps curbed Bill's entusiaim, and since Wyness has been there i think we've seen a less loose cannon Kenwright!

I understand and particularly with our fan base some will agree and disagree with what he thought was the way forward for the club, personally i agree, and i had a lot of time for him, if anyone thinks he wasnt a major contributor to the club and its progress you are fooling yourselves, bad news day for me. Many will say he wasnt a fan of the club, good, i want a CEO who will make decisons for what they believe is right for the buissness rather then based on sentiment, which is many peoples critcism of Bill. Its important to note also that a CEO is not omnipptent in terms of decison making he reports to a voting board of whom he is a part.

Best of luck in Spain, Keith and thanks for your contribution!

I thin more will come out in the wash on this one also, in terms of, he is no longer governed by having to tow the party lines or placate one or other side of our fan base, i think we will get the nitty gritty on why Kirkby is being pushed by the club.

Should have posted this in here, sorry:

Taken from the echo:

Sources close to Wyness have suggested that he has walked because he had grown exasperated with a lack of investment in the club and run out of patience with regards to footballing matters.

The terms of Wyness’s contract stipulated he must serve a 12-month notice period.
But he has been released with immediate effect and it now looks increasingly likely he will take over a similar role at Real Mallorca.

The echo tries to give the impression that we'll only miss him a bit with regards Kirkby.

My first reaction would be why would Wyness care if money was being invested in players, surely his role is in the buissness end of things. He was CEO of Aberdeen for years and they never had a pot to piss in, mischeif making if you ask me!
