He can celebrate Yom Kippur or Ramadan for all I care as long as he starts up the engines of this behemoth and we begin moving forward instead of floundering or just going round in ever decreasing circles

Whilst we continue our new manager search, i wanted to see what the general consensus was of Everton fans' opinion on what type of manager we should hire?

After seeing the embarrassing footage of Jurgen Klopp celebrating another runners-up medal into the early hours of the bitters' final loss, i have noticed not one of their fans is calling for his head. If the roles were reversed, would we be the same? Or would we make a statement as fans that this isn't acceptable, as winning nothing, is not worth celebrating.

Over the last few years (under moshiri), we have collectively let the board know that Martinez, Koeman and Allardyce's 'achievements' have not been good enough for our club, despite the media's dismay that they have in fact been good enough.

I think the fact that our fanbase has been forward in letting the board know about this, whilst the bitters are always looking for other excuses like arm rolls, shows the wave of change in both clubs' ambitions. Whereas they fear their manager is bigger than the club and are afraid of upsetting the apple cart, we're showing a determination not to just plod along like them picking up runners-up medals, whilst we sack any manager who doesn't bring us a trophy.

That's just my opinion though, would you be happy with a manger who only gets us to these finals and constantly let's us down? Or would you want one who will take the risks required to end our trophy drought?
With all respect the RS do not accept mediocre, they demand CL football. Klopp has something to celebrate, he is getting close. Another keeper and Salah staying on would have won it...phew!

Every time we reach Europe and we think we can push on we end up two steps backwards. The board think the jobs done and they can sit back, it was the same under Moyes.

Liverpool go out the CL and the squads even stronger by the end of the weekend with a new signing, we are after a manager who’s been out of work 6 months and still can’t get it done quick. He won’t Have assessed the squad until July then we will probably start making enquiries over players.

We accepted David Moyes for a decade and cry arse now when the media laugh at our “ambitions”. The media aren’t keeping us down- we did a great job ourselves since 1990. Anyone who claims that if next year we had a season akin to what spurs and the RS have had in recent years are absolutely deluded and in denial. Trophyless perhaps but actual clear signs of progress on the field and off it, along with actually playing good football that fans can get behind. Imagine going to a game and enjoying watching it! Shocking I know. Spurs beating Madrid at Wembley and either of the RS games against city or Roma are matches where if we had those results they’d go down in history and we’d wax lyrical about them for decades to future generations.

Given the choice between:
1) getting to a champions league final or
2) spending a decade or more listening to drivel about plucky little Everton, knives to gunfights and celebrating not being relegated,
I know which I’d prefer and only one of those options constitutes mediocrity.

I'm not expecting us to win the treble next season, but I do expect clear and visible progress as a minimum.

I also hope that nobody regards "reaching a semi-final" as "success".

If in two years time we are criticizing Marco Silva (or whoever we hire as our coach) for celebrating losing the Champions League final, I'd take that level of mediocrity everyday.

I must say that I'm a bit detached from everything living in Canada, but the level of attention that has been given to the RS over the past week or so is bordering on pathetic....its like we're the ugly sister and know it. Reveling in the misfortune of others (especially when they are closer to what you want than you are) is a clear sign of comfort with mediocrity. Perhaps its not our manager we should be worried about.

If only they’d had Pickford.........hahahahaha........

Unsure, depends on the meaning. I'd be happy to celebrate European qualification and mediocrity can achieve that. But you need short term goals and they're never gonna be top end achievements.
I'd be more than happy with a EL place and be very happy with a League Cup.

I think Real Madrid are proof that winning and success are habitual. Once you have the habit , you also have the belief . We need a style of football, performances and competitiveness that we can all believe in .If that's what we get next season, then I'll be happy with that, even if that means no more than best of the rest in the league. A cup run would be nice. But it will take a significant improvement in stability at the club, player recruitment and development, coaching and our style of play for us and the team to believe that we can win something .
