Worst Everton Moment

Semi final loss last year by far. Went ahead against our rivals who were at their worst for decades before surrendering and defending on our own 6 yard line with no attempt to score another goal or even pass the ball. Didn't speak for at least a day after it (or before it!) and got forcibly removed from a pub for trying to deck some 40 odd year old Cockney Kopite after he asked me who I supported.

The final was grim but I felt that we were just beaten by the better team and our fans gave a good account of ourselves showing that we're proper football fans and the Chelsea lot are blase plazzy melts.

Losing the semi final of the Carling Cup at home to Chelsea was horrible - the first time I've ever seen anything close to success and we failed when one game from Wembley.

Bolton away when we lost 2-0 a couple of years back was horrendous, too. Up there with the worst for me because we played so badly.

Surrendering away to Lisbon when we could've won comfortably by just leaving our own half was all that we needed to do wasn't great.

Norwich on Saturday as well.

Koff Everton, you make my life a misery.

The day the European ban was announced in the aftermath of Heysel was another bleak day (albeit pale in comparison with the loss of life and the heartache of the relatives of the 39 victims).

The summer of '85 was to be such an optimistic time for Evertonians....at last we had a team in the European Cup and well capable of winning it.

The rest, of course, is history.

Despite the title win in '87, I don't think EFC ever recovered from the blow that was the European ban and much of what has happened since flows directly from that period of unfulfilled potential.

this exactly. I wasn't alive, but the poignance that it had to be Liverpool, that we could really have won it.

68 cup final Jeff Astle was my first big downer. 69 semi against city. and then semi v shoite when we lost at old trafford, then ...the rest of the 70's including losing at home to Carlisle 2-3 when we were 2-0 up then losing away to Carlisle think they got relegated that year. The Billy Bingham years, the Mike Walker years the Howard Kendall mark 2 and mark 3 years ..oh kill me now.

For me it was last year's semi-final, the most predictable Everton performance I've ever seen. Taking the lead then completely screwing it up losing 2-1, was very close to going to Wembley, so glad I didn't.

Losing to Liverpool in the Fa Cup semifinal last year. Anytime we lose to an inferior team is a kicked to the jewels for me too. Totally ****s my weekend up when that happens.

That Villa game were Lescott equalised deep into injury time then that horrible get Ashley Young scored with one of the last kicks of the game - ruined me for a week but then I think the game after that was when Cahill scored a last minute winner away at City, and you fall back in love with football again.
