Tash was a nasty deity in the last of the Narnia books

Silva has managed in the premiership and has managed Carvalho in the past, it is likely that the signing of this player could be his suggestion and that he feels he could do well in England.

It is decisions like this which will decide if Silva can be a success.
If , as a result of the unrest at Sporting Lisbon we can get him free or for a reduced fee it is hard to argue against it.

Hasn't Carvhallo just signed for Notts Forest for £13 million? ...and Diop to West ham.....

I thought the same stats wise re. Fernandes.

And while he is a very good player, most of his work is done more as a late runner into the area than a traditional playmaker in the David Silva mould, or even someone who drops deep to get on the ball.

Reminds me much more of Bernardo Silva or - not in stature but certainly in his knack of getting into the box - Gylfi, so it'd depend what we were after.

Id say Fernandes looks best in a deep position which makes him ideal for Silvas system...he also has seemed to be doing well combining with Carvalho and Gelson especially.

Having seen him play mostly for Portugal, and only a few times for Sporting, I can't see him fitting in deep in a Premier League side Zat - or at least, not in a two.

For Portugal he's played as either a left midfielder or a number 10. He isn't about getting on the ball from deep and dictating the play - kind of how a Banega would.

He's at his best in and around the box or coming in from the flank - in a bit of a Pienaar style more than a traditional winger.

He's the player that is the one in both systems who receives the ball from deep from Carvalho.

He's not a Pienaar type for Sporting.

Last season he played I think 60% of games as an attacking central midfielder...Id say about 35% of games as a DM and sometimes box to box CM and the remaining 5% on the right.

Scored goals and made assists in his central attacking role BUT in fact he frequently moves out to the right and back to swap positions with Gelson and Carvalho...never seen him on the left of midfield?

When in an advanced role he gets the goals and assists...from deep he runs the game.

Played left loads last season. Used to swap about with that Bryan Ruiz fella.

I know he's not exclusively a Pienaar type for Sporting, just meant that he can play that role as well and does for the national side.

There's a big difference in that type of player (physique, style of play) playing DM in Liga NOS and DM in the Prem, mate. It's the physicality.

If we went for him as a creative fulcrum in a 4-3-3, then I think he could work.

Other than that he's an attacking midfielder.

Diop to West Ham is just a rumour at this stage. Nothing agreed. Places also saying we're in for him as well.

The Carvhallo you're thinking of is from Benfica, not Sporting.
