to be fair i can't stand nsno bigger set of melts than here but the br will be re-opening soon so will be frequenting both here and there for a while

The last thing you want at the end of the season is playing teams at the wrong end of the table they suddenly start picking up points.

As always we will win some we expect to loose and lose some we expect to win with a few draws in the middle.

Now let see, our current schedule last six games is:-

West Ham (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Blackburn (A)
Fulham (H)
Stoke (A)
Portsmouth (H)

Aston Villa a top half team!

Blackburn, Fulham & Stoke mid-table team!

West Ham although is currently sucked into relagation fight, but when they still got 5 more games to play to gain enough points to stay in Premier League and at home where we tends to beat the Hammer, I see no problem here!

Portsmouth another team who is probably relagated by the time we played them, so expect them to play freely without any pressure, is a tough match, but again at home I can still see us winning it.

I am not disagreeing with the fact you think we did lose some and win some of those games, but I don't agree with you saying we are playing against team on the wrong end, i do believe we could win all six games and if not we should win at least four of those games.

we have had 22 winable games so far this season and only won 7 so to think we can suddenly win 10-12 of our last 16 is a bit unreasonable(y)

There is a difference mate, when we were missing most of our key player like Arteta, Pienaar, Osman, Neville, Yakubu, Baines, Jagielka, Vaughan, Anichebe, Distin, Yobo, Saha, Rodwell, Gosling & Hibbert for part or most of the first of the season, what do you expect?

Just a reminder since we began to return of form after the Spurs game, Arsenal is our 20th games which mark the start of the second half of our season.

We have played Arsenal, Man City & Sunderland for the first three of game of the second half of the season, and we got 2 win and a draw from them, wouldn't you be impress with that sort of start in the beginning of the season?

If you don't feel we could get that then is up to you to carry on being negative due to our first half performance, but I certainly think we could manage with at least 10 more wins.

im just being realistic i would hope to win half of the remaining games and get a few draws but we will lose a few as well.
as far as injuries they could easily happen again. i would like us to get above birmingham in the next month then try and push on to 7th and maybe 6th and a european place.

Well, you are being too sensible, I certain hope the lads are not thinking things the same way you are doing, if so, we would never reach those qualifying spot for Europe.

I am sure you would think differently when we get a win today and another three points in the Merseyside Derby, you would feel hole lot better then.

i have the same feeling as neiler we will win some unexpected games and lose some unexpected games
last 16 games i will be happy with 8 wins 4 draws and 4 defeats leaving us on 57 points and a real chance of sneaking a europen place any thing else will be a bonus.
lets not forget we have to play the rs united chelsea spurs villa and city most of them away .

I worte this in a different thread mate and if you think about it, these are the teams we have struggled against all season, it kind of explains my thinking not that i think its beyond us to make a YoYo spot :

The back line this year and probably as a team we havent been good defensively. I put it down to injuries lack of consistencey in partnerships and the loss of Jags, Neville and Lescott (we have missed him and the balance he brought). Hopefully from now untill the end of the season we can see the forming of a consistent partnership, signs are good put the jury is still out on the evidence of keeping clean sheets for me.

I beleive as good as we have and can be fully fit, we still havent learned how to break teams down who play spoiling tactics and becasue of our defensive frailties we have been vulnerable on the counter, im talking Fulham, Brum, Stoke, Wolves, Hull etc here.

Perhaps we have lacked the options with players being out and not having the talent options or varience in our play. Hpwever what dissapointed me most last week with good squad options and depth was when we couldnt break Brum down we resorted to the long diagnols and cross after cross in the hope of getting a lucky break on the second ball. The squad is good enough not to do that and beat teams with quality, to be a really top team we have to develop that. If you look at probably our best performences this season they have come against teams who have let us play and went at games - quality vs quality - Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Villa etc. Its the teams who play two deep banks of four we cant play against hence all the draws and occasional losses. Which is why i am not as pessimistic as some about our chances in Feb andnot as hopefull as others with our apperent "easy run in". Mind you other teams have struggled as well at times with a lot of freak results this season.

This would be the perfect thread to pull up BB's predictions thread from about 8 games in. *Writes note to self to be a bookmarker next time*

I am very optimistic about our chances of finishing strongly, our European chances are still pretty small, but if other teams slip I think we'll have a chance.

As Rob said earlier, one game at a time. Win this, then think about next. If we lose then it's not doom and gloom, we'll have fresh players and options for the first time this season. We'll still do well.

A season with no golbet and a real challenge for top four next season with this squad is not an unlikely situation.

If we can get four wins in the next six games, then I would say 64 points is going to be possible and may be even more?

Here is the next six league game at the moment:

Wigan (A) 3 points
RS (A) 3 points
Chelsea (H) 1 point?
Man Utd (H) 1 point?
Spurs (A) 3 points
Hull (H) 3 points

I think we could be getting our four win off them, we should have 41 points or more by the time we have 10 games left.

And the last 10 games all winnable and 64 points is certainly not out of the question here, I think.

I had the same except 1pt at the RS and 3 against Manure
