Player Valuation: £50m
three points was alright
getting tim back was a big plus
two debuts made in the same midfield

but, Joleon lescott played Left back. and did anyone else notice he tried a bit of the rampaging up the left flank today?

also of note, baines, didnt appear very happy nor prepared to meet the eye of moyes.

next rather good piece of news will be ... getting pienaar back leading us to have a rather fine midfield compliment of players.

funny what one result can do isnt it?

Baines has potential but I don't think he is gonna wanna wait for his chance as it is clear Moyes won't drop Lescott and would prefer to move him out to LB.

IMO we do need Baines as the whole squad depth thing comes into play, but I think Lescott is better at LB, even though he thinks he is better at CB. The Pri 1 defence line-up should be:

Pip - Yobo - Jags - Lescott

Lescott at left back for me, Baines still will be useful though. He's suited to European games and from the bench a fullback can change games. He's still very useful backup and a good squad player.

Agree Cal he just hasn't fit in. Lescott is by far a better left back whether he wants to be or not. I think Baines will start against Liege to keep him in the mix short term.

Guys,

Enjoyed my time on here over the last few days.

I'm probably come back every now and then as it's a decent forum.

All the best for the rest of the season.

Whilst you don't like our style of play,I hope that you've realised that Stoke fans in general are a decent bunch.

Could you imagine Baines trying to mark up against stoke in the box.

We needed all of our big players on today, it's no secret Stoke can't play football, get your tallest players on the pitch and weather the storm of throw ins.

I think it was more of a tactical thing then the out and out dropping of Baines, if someone has to give way I think DM will pick Jagielka to sit it out on the bench for the season as a whole not just against Stoke.

Well we got 3 points and didn't get injured. We aren't the most physical of teams as well. You could say that Stoke may not be able to play football, but they are a decent squad. They beat Villa and gave us fits, scoring 5 goals over the 2 matches. I could see them beating the [Poor language removed] out of a quality but soft side like Arsenal or maybe even Utd. and getting a few points off the top 4.

I hope not, Jags is needed at centre half for me. Lescott is also far better at left back.
