Why Marco may or may not be a Silva lining

When I chat with my kloppite friends, they've always told me that their new current manager will win them the league (every time they get a new one). Always drove me insane!

But they believe success will come. Every time.

As a blue, we seem to destroy any hope before we've even started. We concoct a billion reasons why failure will happen.

Optimism is a feeling that we've forgotten how to do. And I think it finds its way to the pitch. So whoever is in charge has the bar set so low they trip over it.

His CV reads like someone with some kind of football ADD.

Swerve in my opinion. Far from convinced by him. We did flashy fussball whilst losing with Bobby, and to be honest, the last thing we need is another appointment that is statistically likely to be short term

He will be worse than Koeman.

Also, his C.V is not one of a manager who turns teams into challengers.

Sure he is a decent bloke though.

Fair point mate, i think we have so many low ebbs in the past 20 years, its hard not to think of a sucker punch. On reflection i think back to last summer and wild optimism on signings, new dawns etc. Only a few kept there heads and questioned the players coming in and what the likely loss of Lukaku meant. For me its about keeping a clear head whether its in a dour situation or a dramatic one.

This week is a case in point, very jublient scenes as our manager, CEO and DOF leave and new shiny ones come in has been the general atmosphere. People dont seem to acknowledge that his could massively destablise the club and window planning by the vacuum it has created as we enter to a critical summer market and new season prep as these people adjust and learn their roles.

I’d be happy with Silva, obviously still wary about the cons to his appointment but after enduring Sam Allardyce i’ll be 100% behind him and can’t wait to go the game again. I’ve missed Goodison.

Yeah, I agree with you. I just think there's a lot to be said for persistant blind optimism and positive thinking. It makes stuff happen. Eventually.

Although I've been let down so many times, I accept I always have my Everton pitch fork at the ready!

I honesty dont know what people want in a manager and more, the whole thing doesnt make sense. Silva is a fine choice. I honestly believe we overstate the importance of a manager anyway.

Trouble is our playing staff also have had a nauseating habit of downing tools on managers who did,nt fit on the training ground.

"Divided opinions of Evertonians" nothing further to add.

We still have not learnt anything as a club and I fear we will be starting all over again within 24 months.......foundations built on sand.
I have to agree with those sentiments.
The last thing we need is a manager who divided the fan base.
I don’t want him here for a variety of reason listed above , but if it’s him that’s appointed I will support and back him
However that support would fade a lot quicker than if a manager such as Emery was appointed.
Appointing Emery would be a statement of intent and I think Emery would see it as a 4/ 5 year project to rebuild his reputation,
Silva is a gamble the club can I’ll afford
If we appoint Silva it looks like Moshiri is using his own judgement on who we appoint and that judgement has proved to be flawed before when it comes to footballing issues.
Again after Koeman and Allardyce we need a manager who can unite the fan base and get everybody behind him.
I don’t think Silva is that man

I ,d prefer Brands to make the call that way we have DoF and Manager aligned from the start - something tells me Moshiri is picking partnerships that may not fit together.

We have the money, so why aren't we shopping at Harrods instead of M&S?
I'm with Neville Southall on this. You aim high from the start. You don't start off by thinking "we want someone to get us into the top 6". We want a guy who can make us challengers. If Emery or whoever knocks us back, go to the next name on your list, be it Simeone or someone else.
Send out the message to the top guys that these are calibre of managers we're looking at and want. Sell ourselves to them.
Silva to me smacks of mid-table mediocrity.

Someone who can work with this group of players, improve our attacking play (with a decent defensive coach) and bring confidence back into the group is the priority.

Hull and Watford certainly played for him... And some snide Portuguese and Brazilian signings wouldn't hurt us at all right now, especially midfield and up front.

So , given we're out of Europe represent a win for guys like Silva who want to crack that and have in Everton a club and Chairman who could help getting there...
