Why I stopped reading Toffeeweb.

I created it in -93.

BURN HIM!!!!

Just joking. Fair play, its the best site of its kind for the club on the web. I do agree its a very well run, easily acccessable informative site and the user content is a well managed. I think all the stats info is the most comprehensive on the web.

But I still find it a mind-field of hate bombs and depressing reading most of the time. Even when someone writes an article trying to find some positives or make light to cheer things up he gets shot down in flames faster than Iraqi tie-fighter. So I send to stay clear unless I'd hunting for news info and stats.

That would be me.

Cap well and truly doffed to you Marko. We all owe you, Michael Kenrick and the others down the years who have kept that site alive an enormous debt of gratitude.

I have to laugh that you have two red squares on your posts on this forum to denote that you're a "Kopite".

[Admin...are you sure you have this right? ]

I'll second that Marko, a hearty thank you from me for the work you put into setting up ToffeeWeb back then. It was very much a breath of fresh air in those days and you can feel very proud at the work you did.

Theres space for all the nerdy internet sites, find one you like and use it.

I might not agree with a lot of the viewpoints on TW but its a cracking site that is used by lots of blues so they must be doing something right.

FELLAINI OUT.

In fairness, I've always loved the site from a visual and informational standpoint. I don't think there's ever been any equal in terms of Everton websites.

If you were involved in that set up then Makis, a big "well done" to you then.

It's mainly the opinion aspect of it that brings it down.

I think Gordon Blair said something to this effect but if we had a big time windup merchant (it's my opinion that Marsh is precisely that), that the forum members here would deal with it appropriately.

His rants on TW are somewhat insulated from the backlash that they warrant. He wouldn't last long on here and would be, in my opinion, ignored after awhile.

But then surely it's up to concerned Evertonians to counter that position and start submitting their own articles? You're an intelligent person Bill, so if you sat down and wrote 1000 words on Moyes being a gifted manager, it would be published. Whatever people think about the guys running the site, they do give space for anything that is well written and coherent.

Now some of the replies are bordering on insanity, but they can't really stop these as it would mean either vetting each reply that comes in, or sitting there all day removing anything with a moronic undertone.

Very good comment. There really is no need for the "we are better than them" attitude. If you don't like a site, don't go there. You might not agree with their viewpoint, but we are all Evertonians. In the past it was rivalry between different clubs, why does it now sometimes look like the rivalry between our own sites is more important?

I like to use all the Everton websites, you get lots of different view points.

People who just stick to the one need to get around more, boring bastards.:P It's not cool.

I understand that and agree with that.

But when someone wants to write an article, or for that matter, post on a forum that states ideas and/or opinions that are so demonstrably false, then that's where I have an issue.

Some may say, "well he's making an argument." Maybe so, but let's get some facts to back that opinion as opposed to just purely ranting for the sake of ranting. For TX Bill's next post, he's going to argue that the sun isn't hot.

For example:

Say I wanted to write an article and the gist of my article was, "Yakubu, clearly one of the worst strikers ever to wear the Everton shirt," I might get a few people to agree with me due to their blinkered views.

But the majority of Evertonians would take one look at that article and laugh it off as a pure windup. Because that's what it would be. A windup. Whatever one thinks of Yakubu, it's obvious that he is not one of the worst strikers ever to wear the Everton shirt.

Marsh typically writes with a "scorched earth" mentality. In other words there is NOTHING right with Everton. Oh he'll slip in the obligatory "good old days" mantra for good measure but I'm still waiting for a fact based, balanced opinion commentary. Heck, it doesn't even have to be balanced, but base it on facts please.

I laughed at one of his responses that stated, "I don't rate Pienaar...."

Ummmmm ok. But considering that the vast majority of Evertonians do, and were worried when we hadn't tied him up sooner to a long term deal, that tells you all you need to know about the "reality" that Tony Marsh is living in.

I'll be honest and admit that I don't read anything by Tony Marsh, at least not beyond scanning an article in less than two minutes or so. To me, TW is about keeping up to date with the rumours, headlines and the mailbag. Now, the mailbag is something else and really is something to wind you up.

Still, I feel that Micheal and Lyndon do a really good job in keeping the site afloat. The time and effort they must put into it for no recompense is impressive. Okay, Michael has this obnoxious attitude from time-to-time, but he's a decent guy if you get to write with him on a one-to-one basis.

And like I said, Bill. Get that article written. Unlike Tony Marsh and his stuff, I would most certainly would read yours. (y)

I was gonna reply to this earlier but couldn't get on to the site.

I agree that the site itself is top quality. I didn't mean to paint the entire website with my opinion about certain "fan" commentary (the irony as that might have been considered "scorched earth" huh?)

As it stands, I'm considering submitting a few articles for the TW main site. However, I'm going to use psuedonames to protect myself incase of backlash. So, here are my article ideas and aliases in no particular order. Let me know what you think:

1) Why All Everton Transfer Targets Are [Poor language removed] - By "Cal"

2) Kenwright, Greatest Chairman In Modern Day Football - Joint publication by several but foreward written by "Coyney"

3) We Never Should Have Let Manny Fernandes Go - By "Sharpy's Top Lip"

4) Layman's Guide To Seating At Goodison Park - By "Halewood Blue"

and lastly

5) Andy Van Der Meyde: Everton's Season Savior - By "Insert Name Here"

:lol::lol::lol: :P

Funnily enough i saw that article on TW and wondered what bollocks he has come out with now. And surprisingly it wasn't quite as bad as his usual bollocks, he did have some valid points.

But as per usual pretty much everything was twisted to suit his blinkered everythings [Poor language removed] view, and as soon as anyone points out what they think is good so therefor differernt to his opinions it gets shot down.

The guy is nothing but an attention seeker who revells in the fact people know his name.

Exactly what I thought too. When considering the loan deals coming in it's easy to see why DM has yet to sign his contract. He is getting the best he can with no money and I'm pretty sure the Fellaini money was scraped up in order to keep him here for long enough to get a new owner in place and get us back in amongst them. Sadly, I have a feeling it might not work as all we seem to get is newspaper stories followed by denials :(
