Why do everton continue to lose away to certain teams

I dislike Moyes with a passion, but he's been gone 7 years now, how can us not winning still be his fault?

Baines is the only player left from his reign. I genuinely think nowadays, it's because we actually play half decent football, it isn't right for winning at the so called "big" teams. They outplay us because they're better than us in reality. Bournemouth and Palace etc, sit in deep and counter attack, big teams hate that.

I agree to an extent. At one nil yesterday, we should have been sitting a little deeper and looking to counter more. It was inevitable we would get more chances without having to do much.

But it's all mentality. Players expect to lose. Players dont mind losing. Players are content to lose narrowly. There's no come back if they lose.

Expected losses springs to mind.

Seamus as well.

Only 6 teams have played in every premier league season.

Arsenal - Average league position 3rd
Chelsea - 4th
Liverpool - 4th
Man Utd - 2nd
Spurs - 8th
Everton - 11th

Every other club has been in the division below and had some sort of break from the endless defeats. We've lingered around long enough being drivel that it's become the norm to accept it. Someone uses Bournemouth for an example against Chelsea, they've only been in the league for 4 or 5 years so they won't a terrible record, and go into the game with some belief. 30 years of mediocrity has played it's part.

I mean if you take random utter dross like Southampton. In the last 10 years alone they have won at
Man Utd. - Twice
Chelsea. - Twice
Liverpool. - Twice
Arsenal - Twice
Spurs. - Once

How about an even worse side like Crystal Palace? Well in the last 10 years they have won at
Man Utd. - Twice
Chelsea - Twice
Liverpool - Three times
Arsenal - Once
Spurs - Once.

To paint our record as just something that happens to teams outside the elite is utter nonsense.

A few months ago, we were struggling to win away full stop, never mind at the big clubs. Wasn't it something like one away win in 12 months or something?

When was the last time we even had a “must win” game?

Not since the heady days of Bobby’s first season.

Since then we have been mediocre, hanging around mid table with no really important league games at the business end of the season.

Sad.
If you're a winner, all games are must win games. You're point does not unfortunately contradict this.

It’s the mentality end of story!
Nothing to do with quality/being unlucky/Refs etc...

People going on as if we surrendered , yesterday . We should have won the game ffs
Indeed.

We are improving. Slowly but surely. More time under Ancelotti and understanding what to do on the pitch in this team (that sounds dreadful - professional footballers should know what to do!) will help. Recruitment into the team to improve it in the summer will help. We're reaching a point were we should have the belief and ability to win away to these teams. Once it happens, nothing breeds success like success.

It is a mentality/cultural problem and the fact we mostly buy players with no leadership qualities.

Goodison has been a very difficult place to play for any team since 1878 so it is not simply about ability!!!

We have had the players to get better results away from home for many, many years but as a group they have lacked mental stength/character that is required.

In relatively recent times the Cahill/Jags/Arteta teams had enough quality and mentality to get results away.

You see all the gushing posts about the likes of Gomes and Bernard + Siggy has scored/assisted plenty. Mina/Sidebe etc get praise.
But it is a smokescreen, so many supporters seem blonkered to the fact its performances in AWAY games that get you to cup finals and into european places.

This bunch of players bar Richarlison, possibly DCL have shown time after time they have not got the strength of character to get results away against good teams when they are under pressure, home fans make it difficult, opposition are playing to win etc etc

Until you buy players with stop 6 mentality coupled to top 6 ability we are are stuck in 7/8/9th place dross.

We should go into every single game playing to win home or away! Fear no one. Not have the mindset of ‘well a draw won’t be a bad result’

I am sure it's why horse face over at the pit has them going from the opening game. Get a few wins under your belt and you're in contention from the start.
