When Did The Rot Set In?

There are some better answers earlier but I'm going to say signing Sigurdson. Aside from the obvious, it was tangible proof that we coul no longer negotiate a good price for transfers and we didn't have a coherent strategy.
See what you’re saying so maybe actually it was Bolasie
The first time we seriously over paid for an average player I think

We should of walked away when they turned down the 25 million. An absolutely shocking transfer.
We signed Klassen and Rooney as well in the same summer.

When did the rot set in?

1987 - Everton, English League Champions
1988 - Bill Kenwright becomes member of Everton board

I think it was November 1989 when Kenwright joined the board of directors but we won't split hairs!lol

It's been 36 years since we were last the best team in England, and with the exception of the 1987/1988 and 1988/1989 seasons, Kenwright has been involved with the club in one capacity or another for all of them.

In recent history, Moshiri’s reckless spending on utter tripe on massive wages. Additionally players with terrible attitudes who were never a good fit for the club. See Schinderlin, Ashley Williams, Tosun etc

The culture of the club since the turn of the century has been one of a loser mentality. Everton simply have just been there to make the numbers up and if we are being honest with ourselves we haven’t been a competitive footballing outfit for decades. How many wins away to the top 4 in 30 years? A couple of unsuccessful cup runs and seemingly unending ‘worst ever’ records broken.

The one constant as we all know is Kenwright and the worst barren spell in the club’s history and a relegation will be his ever enduring legacy.

The thing that has screwed us was our signings and sackings policy, our flagrant disregard for P&L rules, knee jerk reactions to sacking managers. Absolute shitshow.

Also the people’s club, far too nice in a cut throat bloodthirsty business environment, walked over by everybody

Bolaise - Not just the player ( As every team makes mistakes ) the price we so readily handed out without even batting an eyelid....

Heysal
Kendall leaving
Johnson
Royal leaving
TV contract left in an in-tray
Sheikhs come calling & Green/BK - say no thanks
Chasing Koeman for 6 weeks
Appointing a chief scout as DOF
Appointing a not ready Silva who looked mentally fooked before he was sacked (now would seem just about perfect)
Allardyce - we are desperate
Sacking Allardyce when he did a decent job (there’s no way I wanted him to stay mind)
Agent Red
Lampard

Crazy, crazy ad f&@k
