When Did The Rot Set In?

You can name endless things going back to the European ban but weren't we second in the table at Christmas in 20/21 with the world's best manager?

It's been a disaster since about this time in 2021.

I'd also pinpoint Moyes's last two seasons. 1-0 up at half time to a poor Liverpool team at Wembley and he bottled it, they were below us that season and the next. Then the Wigan game in the next season who rested half their team and beat us 3-0 at Goodison in the quarter final. They went on to win the FA Cup. That was two chances to get rid of our plucky losers tag.

If there was a bad move to made, we made it, if there was a wrong turn to be took, we took it, what's coming next month is a culmination of decades and decades of terrible decision making at the club from the boardroom to the field.

Players, directors, owners etc have all come and gone but one person involved in all of this from start to finish is, of course, a certain Bill Kenwright. A so-called lifelong fan who has allowed the club to rot and standards to be eroded just so he could remain front and centre of the club for little more the selfish and egotistical reasons. It's just folly to blame the European ban for our coming relegation, it was nearly 40 years ago.

Some blame has to be attached to fans who refused to see through and blindly backed this fraud masquerading as our 'Chairman'. It was so obvious to me and many others a very long time ago he was a lame duck and totally out of his depth but opposition to him was usually met with 'be careful what you wish for' 'he's a Blue' 'at least he's not Peter Johnson' or the tiresome 'kopite' taunt. I'm afraid these only helped cement Kenwright further in his position and we all pretty much know where he is about to now take us next month.

Without reading any other post in this thread.

The rot set in when Bill took over.
For all the negatives of Peter Johnson (and there are many), he never once hid what he was/wasn’t doing.

Kenwright rode in on his white horse claiming to be the hero. The problem is, and it’s been a recurring theme, he believes his fantasies.

We had to sell our prize golden generation talent in Rooney, for a paltry £20m (plus add ins), because we were on the cusp of administration. He got Moyes by a fluke, waving the deal at “blue” Megson.

He turned what was a major force in English and World Football into a mockery. The dismantling of us into “Little Old Everton”, “The People’s club”, has helped us develop a complex, one we’ve not shook for 30 years, hence the awful records and fear of any big game.

Missed opportunities at Kings Dock, with Mansour, and lies about Goodison certainly et a back at least 25 years and counting now. That missed revenue helping expand the disparity between us and the top.

Then Moshiri. The reallt accelerator of the rot. A man with no football background, the red flags were there, Arsenal continuously rebuffing he and his crony Usmanov attempts of a takeover.

Genuinely believe the best interests were there, but the cornerstone in the downfall was failing to replace the board. Not bringing in football minded experts, and financial experts to help us.

Instead a catalogue of high fees for “peak” players with no future resale, and knee jerk appointments has caused us hell.

6 managers in 5 years mean that we’ve got a perfect combination of players from each regime, who don’t fit the system.

Oh and glorifying survival, for a side who aimed for Top 4 less than 3-4 years ago? Embarassing.

In terms of the relegation rot, blue union killed the fanbase and Koeman killed the team. Benitez just sped up the process.
The fact we have an Everton fan implicating the Blue Union in the relegation here is incredibly pertinent. Here we have a chairman who has set Evertonian against Evertonian for years in order to keep power.

This is straight from the Tory playbook, setting the rich against the poor, the black against the white, muslim against non-muslim etc in order to deflect from their own shortcomings. And then hoping that the people who DO see their shortcomings aren't energised enough to do anything about it. It has been a devious and yet remarkably successful ploy despite the relegation, which will be a secondary issue for him behind retaining control.

One question for you. How long would our lovely red neighbours have put up with Bill Kenwright running the show?

When Kenwright seized full control of the board from Paul Gregg. The culture at the club changed for the worse and it was terminal. Completely chucked out all standards and became an institution who just romanticise the most embarrassing rubbish.

Further evidence of it at FT last night. I stayed until the end and people around me in the Lower Gwladys were actually clapping the players off, and not in sarcasm either. Absolutely crazy.

This club and the majority of the fanbase (least the people who go to Goodison) are getting exactly what's deserved.
There fellas in my work who don’t think it’s Kenwright fault and we stay up.. they are in complete dreamland

Summer of 2009, no money to bring players in, Lescott tapped up by city forcing a move after he was a pedestrian in the first game loss to Arsenal 1-6 at Goodison. Thats when I felt Moyes woke up to the fact Blue Bill was a spoofer and lost motivation to progress with us. A fifth place finish and a cup final should have seen us strengthen for 09-10 season, but it was same old same old.

As I have argued on this forum many times before, the blue union killed the Goodison atmosphere entirely by making it uncool to get behind the team, something we have only started doing again the last two years now that it's too late.

Our devil worshipping neighbours had the common sense to keep protests towards hicks and Gillette separate from how they got behind the men on the pitch, as do the mancunian devil worshippers. But us? Like crass halfwits, we changed how Goodison felt. We let the atmosphere become whiney rather than ferocious, and it didn't happen during the blue unions rime by accident.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions and the blue union played their part in our current situation.

Well the fans believed the rubbish put out by Kenwright and his cronies, Sharp was one of them, about the Blue Union all genuine match going Everton fans, if we had got behind them then we would have got to the truth about Kenwright and how he ran the club a lot sooner.

I believe the rot began around 1947 when Kenwright was born.

They were a bunch of entitled arl gits who thought that sulking in the stands made them better than everyone else in there. Actively snarled out teenagers and anyone else who wanted a bit of atmosphere. Wasn't allowed. Cheering for bilyaletdinov? Means you've got no ambition that, cause hes not fit to wear the shirt. Because we were good in the 80s, so we have to sulk now in 2010.
Absolute helmets, played a massive part in destroying us.

Just dont like us going after fans saying blue uinion was blame for this, or fans not stepping up to join in to get kenwright ect out earlier. For me we all kno what we have to do now is stick together as fans and demand changes at the top level at this club.
