What's wrong with Nikica Jelavic?

Possibly a bit of second season syndrome imo.
Suarez went through something similar last year which was his second season, and now look at him free scoring for fun.
It's all about getting used to the league and learning how to adapt when things arent going your way and when your being picked out by defenders to man mark you.
He'll pick up new year and probably get about 15/16 overall this season which will be good.
20 the season after, he'll also be in the form of his career at that age as well.

He's scored as many as Lukaku, Hernandez, Dzeko, Berbatov and Aguero and only one less than Torres, Tevez, Rooney, Mata and Cazorla. He over-performed last season and our expectations of him are too high. His supply line has also been cut since Pienaar isn't performing at the same level as last year, Fellaini is more advanced and can't thread through balls to him and on the right both Mirallas and Naismith drift inside, whereas Coleman would give us width there last season. He has missed a few chances that he would have put away when he first arrived and the timing of his runs has been a little off (hence the large number of offsides) but he's always likely to score in streaks.

I do think he hasn,t lost any of his desire to be there at the final ball,
the way we played against villa ,swansea and southampton early season seems to have changed ..and the service he received isn,t getting there ,his movement for his goal against Villa was exceptional..all games in the prem are very tactical and opposition are going to try anything to stop us playing the way we do and can ...aka Shawcross "[Poor language removed]" against Felli.. Jelli will get through this no doubt .. lets just hope he gets the winner against the "fat spanish waiter" ..

His effort and movement has been great for most of the season but he seems to be shafting easy chances. I say give him a rest get naisy or chebes to play instead, or better yet give some time to young Vellios. Give Jelavic a chance to grab some goals from the bench.

I think Vellios and Jeli actually play well together, better than Jeli and Anichebe so far, I mean Jeli seems to score when Vellios is on lately. ??

Good point, GET OUT ON THE RIGHT WING BIG VIC LAD

Confidence.

He's had two scarily identical opportunities this season, one vs Southampton and one at the weekend vs Wigan.

Against Southampton, when he was confident after scoring loads last season and getting a couple early on. He got the ball about 40 yards out about in line with the left edge of the 18 yard box and ran through before belting one bottom corner with his left.

The one against Wigan he slowed down and allowed the defenders catch up to him before trying to cut in onto his right despite being in acres of space and having it taken off him. Fully believe that a confident Jelavic would've slotted it with his left no problem.

He'll get back into scoring ways soon, don't worry.

hes snatching at chances at the moment .get back to placing them lad, just take ye time the goals will soon flow starting sunday hopefully
