What's wrong with Nikica Jelavic?

he has missed a few sitters, that's all. He is a) also getting marked more closely, b) working massively hard, and c) he was a bit jammy with some of his goals last season - ones against fulham and newcastle come to mind

He's just on a dry spell. Missed some sitters by his high standards, but his goals against Sunderland and Tottenham, both winners, were both instinctive and Anichebe or Velios wouldn't have anticipated them, much less scored from them.

For what it is worth, I prefer the goals coming from around the team, rather than relying on one slotter. He is not injured/coming back from injury, chances are coming his way, he will pick up, no problem cos he never hides. Sign of a top player IMO.

Remember with HK? Won the league with goals from everywhere, bought Linekar in, he scored, what, 40 odd, but others dried up a bit. That is not a critique of HK BTW , just the way I would not like to rely on one player for the goals.

The real Nikica Jelavic has been in a box for the weeks leading to that kid's Christmas, and only got out a few hours before the boxing day match. I imagine it would take some time to recover from that.

He is getting a different service this year compared to last.

If you at the tapes from the prior season, Jelavic scored the majority of his goals with a one time touch near the 6 yard box. I am fairly certain he has had 0 goals in which he took on 1 defender and beat them going on to score.

What that is saying to me is with the emergence of Fellaini being the target, and rightly so due to form, Jelavic isnt getting that slotted pass into feet or good wieghted cross. With that, it appears he is attempting to over think his run which, unfortunately, he is incorrectly anticipating the routes.

Look for him to get a goal vs Chelsea though. His last was vs Tottenham so Chelski marks game number 3. Remember 1 goal every three games. Put a tenner on it.

For me its because he is working too hard, he needs to just stay centrally and the width of the 18 yard box instead of chasing down full backs while fellaini just trots around! Moyes wants him to work too hard just like he wanted out of all our other strikers that are goal scorers when we sign them and play for us and stop scoring.

If you have noticed Ossie and Pienaar always shoot rather than try and pick him out, you can see from his reaction to them, it pisses him off.

Once the greedy dwarfs stop pot shotting and start trying to get the ball into his feet the goals will flow.

Amazingly that's not a million miles from the truth , by the way any issues aren't to do with his agent who is a sound bloke and surprisingly a big Evertonian. Jelavic however is heavily influenced by his 'advisors ' & family members but he is very very happy here . I just believe a few bits being resolved would make him a much happier bloke.

Like I said a month ago not too much to worry about but it really could be if not watched become an issue , nothing however a little brace & a big fat bonus couldn't resolve !
