What striker would you sign?

he went awol on international duty, came back with no excuse, Moyes wasn't pleased, then he ruptured his achiles, then got a buttons move away and scored for a few games then disappeared. (half season championship leicester - season at blackburn) then a season in China where he scored in effectively non league then stopped scoring all together. In the pantheon of usual injuries footballers get, it's ACL top that finishes them, then achiles, some never make it back after a leg break.
Scored in the Championship for Leicester and then a good few for Blackburn Rovers in the Prem. Even if Moyes had kept him as back up,but then Moyes and strikers has always been hit and miss. Predominantly sets a team up not to lose first and foremost. If he got 38 draws in a season that'd be his perfect storm.

Out of those 3 attributes I listed both strikers can't hold the ball up, link up the midfield - win the ball in air - or score much one goal this season between 2 of them ....? for nearly 50 million plus for both of them ?
Agree with ya! I forecast after Barry's first game on this forum that the pair of them would'bt score 10 goals between them in the Premier lge this season. Am sticking with it! Both as bad as each other. Surely ! Theres a 'free agent's available somewhere in S America, Europe, and here better than these two short term.

There's tactical changes that need to be made before people can start blaming players.

If the striker is consistently not holding up the ball then Pickford and the centre backs need to stop pumping it long. If KDH's natural game is to roam and float into the half spaces inside the wings, then a deeper centre mid needs to push up and stay properly central. We need full backs. Beto's all around game isn't good enough and Barry hasn't shown a lot yet, but we are slow and predictable in possession. Momentum always slows down when the ball gets to Myko or O'Brien. It stops us getting the ball into the box with any space free.

These are all issues that Moyes needs to address, because atm feels like the plan is to hit Grealish, let him hold it while we get players up the pitch and then basically just hope something will happen.

Like yeah it is frustrating watching Beto completely fail to use his physicality to battle centre backs in the way that he could and should, but you can't blame strikers for a team not winning matches when they aren't missing chances.
They do it because none of them are comfortable with the ball at their feet. Why Moyes didn't look for a CF who can hold the ball up and win at least a few headers is very strange.

Moyes doesn't like indiscipline, least of all his senior line leading signing. It sets a bad example to the rest. It's a job, not a holiday club.

He didn't because that's not the team we're trying to build, I would imagine he was more or less told by TFG to move away from route 1 football after how toxic things got under Dyche.

As you say though the issue is that if you look at our back line - Myko doesn't want to be on the ball anywhere on the pitch, Keane doesn't want to be on the ball in our half, Tark is addicted to hitting diags and O'Brien doesn't want to be on the ball anywhere on the pitch.

Keane is a problem that solves itself when Branthwaite comes back but the fullback positions are the real issue in this team imo. If Rohl can get fit i would seriously consider putting garner back in at rb or lb to regain a modicum of control in build up.

Unpopular opinion seemingly but I think this team can be successful with these strikers. I dont think it can be with the back 4 that started last night.

Enjoyed this.

Probably agree... we don't overlap or get balls in with full backs that could mean Jack and co being more central.

I think we should play B&B together until they score.

I dont think any striker would make much difference at the moment. The main problem we has is that we are too slow to move the ball, by the time we get around the box the opposition have had time to get 8 or 10 men behind the ball and then you need a perfect pass or perfect shot to make it through the crowd of players and past the keeper. We are not going to be able to fundamentally change that until we add faster players to the squad ideally at RB and one of the wingers.
I can see us dominating games for large spells, like we did against Villa and against West Ham last night, but just not getting enough goals to win the game, when we are on top.

Keane

Roy Race.

Getting on a bit, but available on a free from Melchester Rovers in January window.

Just being able to control the ball and accurately hit a 24 foot target would be an improvement from what we currently have.
