1st July officially for business outside England, as soon as the season is over otherwise, so around the beginning of June I think.

We keep on getting linked to players that aren't on free's, so I'm assuming we're defo selling someone.

Priorities

1. Pienaar
2. Back up in case Jelavic is injured or loses form. Most likely free or on loan. I don't think Straq is up to it.
3.= Cahill's successor. Moyes might only be employing 4-4-1-1 to accommodate Cahill and is planning on switching to 4-4-2, in which case an attacking midfielder isn't such an urgent priority. Someone like Sigurdsson would be ideal, but it seems unlikely.
3.= Right midfielder. We can't rely on Pienaar alone to supply the ammunition for Jelavic. Someone like Donovan or Milner on loan would be ideal.
5. Left-sided defender. Distin might have a year or two left in him. It would be good to bed someone in to cover left centreback and fullback before Silvain hangs up his boots.
6. Backup goalkeeper. I don't rate Mucha or Hahnemann especially highly. If Howard did pick up an injury we could struggle. And competition for his place wouldn't hurt his form.

Eden Hazard confirmed via his Twitter he'll be off after Lille's final two games today. This in itself isn't relevent to us, but if he goes to City, it could well be. Adam Johnson will pretty much be surplus to requirements then, and Mancini clearly doesn't rate him enough to put up much of a fight to keep him. I think he'd be ideal if we can't get Pienaar on a long-term deal.

Even with Straq on loan we'd have next to no goal threat. I like Tollos a lot but, even if he wasn't young and inexperienced, he's similar to Jelavic. I'd like to see us bring in someone with a different skillset like Kalou or Hoilett who can carry the ball to Nikica and feed on his lay offs.

would love this to happen but i can see a team like chelsea going in for him to buy him if this became the case, he would be perfect for us though

Just didn't think we are in desperate need for a new forward, therefore having to sell an asset. If that does happen we could get someone in January

4.Rodwell and Barkley. Free replacements unless they're getting sold
5. Not a big deal for me. Decent defenders are cheap imo.

1 and 2 are the key ones. After that we work down the list depending on what funds are available. If we can sign Pienaar, take a punt on a foreign forward (free/loan) and bring someone like Milner in on a temporary deal, without losing any of our better players, we've had a successful summer.
