Bud Light lost $15 billion, and 23% in share prices
Disney has lost $1 billion over it's last 4 films.
Target lost $10 billion
Nike have lost $13 billion in share prices.
Gillette lost $8 billion after their 'toxic masculinity' advert.
Netflix have lost $54 billion in share prices, with hundreds of job losses.

Not exactly broke for these companies - but many of them, notably Bud Light & Disney have backtracked because of the cost.

'The Unstereotype Alliance is a thought and action platform that seeks to eradicate harmful stereotypes in all media and advertising content.

Convened by UN Women, the United Nations entity for Gender Equality, the Unstereotype Alliance brings together partners and seeks to collectively use the advertising industry as a force for good to drive positive change all over the world.

The Alliance contributes to empowering people in all their diversity (race, class, age, ability, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, language, education, etc.) to help create an equal world.'

Sounds perfectly unbiased to me  There's a Mark Twain quote i'm thinking of...

Anheuser-Busch InBev (Budweiser), Target, Pfizer, AT&T & Disney are all down on average 16% - $80 billion in market value, Nike is trading 11.3% since the beginning of the year, 26.1% below last year (so bad they've let go of 1600 staff) "Nike boss John Donahoe has called the company’s downturn “a painful reality and not one that I take lightly.” “We are currently not performing at our best, and I ultimately hold myself and my leadership team accountable,” he said, leaving out any mention of the poor decisions that put Nike in this position in the first place."

Rip Curl & Dorito's even apologised for their adverts due to such backlash.

Not sure how much is down to "woke" but what incredibly sad state of affairs, grown adults avoiding companies for promoting black, disabled, female, trans, gay etc - marginalised, minority causes. These people live in the dark, dark ages.

I think it's got to a turning point mate, people feel they are being lectured at with overzealous and over-reaching advertising. It's counterproductive and in the case of the Gillette one - inflammatory.

People don't want to be instructed on morality by corporations that sell goods. How Nike had the audacity is beyond me, with sweatshops and forced/child labour then have the audacity to lecture consumers on morality? As for Bud Light, I don't think purveyors of 'The Official Beer of the NFL' want to see Dylan Mulvaney prancing around, reverting to type with Peyton Manning and Emmitt Smith in their next commercial hoping (and failing) to save what little credibility they had left.

The fact they didn't stick to their guns proves it was simply virtue signalling.

Lol. Disney, that famously broke company struggling to make ends meet

The Walt Disney Co. had a rough year in 2022, losing $123 billion of its market value as stocks dropped 44.58%. This marked the worst annual decline in nearly 50 years for the company. The year was marked by lower-than-anticipated profits for their streaming service Disney+ and lower box-office receipts, but Disney's promotion of LGBT content and its foray into woke politics also played a significant role in its decline.

Conclusion Disney appears to be paying a steep price for its heavy-handed sermonizing of woke politics in its content. The company's decline in market value is a cautionary tale for other companies considering a similar approach. Netflix has also suffered this year after receiving similar criticism for catering to the LGBT population, with a 50.64% loss in stock value.

Yeah you're right mate, i'm sure the shareholders are absolutely fine with it.

I must not get all the same channels as some people, I've never seen this Woke Politics Show on Disney+. Is there some sort of special 'outraged' package you subscribe to to get it? Bear in mind I only really like Star Wars and Marvel so I probably don't need it.

Maaaate,no one is lecturing you - you really are on the other side, arent you! Shame.

Anyway, what harm does it do? Putting trans-people, people with disabilites and people of colour on tv IS NOT OFFENSIVE!

I am stunned at the reaction to these things. Grown men and women boycotting products because they try to promote minorities. I actually do not care about their own reason for doing so, it is only a good thing for our kids and gammons to see this stuff as normal.

I have a one armed women presenting the weather, a black man in a wheelchair presenting current affairs and women on MOTD - how dare they.....

Honestly, some people will only be happy with straight, white men and a pretty white bird on TV, anything else is just woke

SMH

These people are offended by everything but white straight men - remember the young black lad starring in the star wars film a few years ago - they were not happy!

It's like a lot of companies have lost sight of two stark realities, a company needs to maximise profit, and advertising should be targeted at your customer base and certainly not alienate them.

Disney for example we t down a weird rabbit hole, making movies for audiences that simply don't exist - hence catastrophic returns at the box office - only when they ditched the 'message' and went back to making a movie aimed at the people who watch those movies did they find success (Latest Deadpool movie)..
Just off the top of my head a list of awful Disney decisions in the past few years.
Peter Pan, making casting an ethnic actor as Peter Pan, promoting Wendy to the main character - who essentially is the girl boss of the movie, the lost boys become the lost children etc (each narrative choice destroyed the actual essence and meaning of the original story)
Snow White, casting an ethnic actress as the main character - eliminating the low story as it was 'creepy stalking', turning the dwarves originally into the seven magical creatures (yeah because everyone always assumed the dwarves were not a fantasy creature but a human with dwarfism ofc...) also rammed this home in every sound bite out of the main actress.
Thor love and thunder - making his gf effectively the star of the movie who takes on his powers - ie a Thor movie without Thor as the main character.
The marvels, three female leads - female main villain, two of which can't act, girl boss movie on steroids.
Ant man - promoting his daughter as the main character - an ant man movie were again he's relegated to a support role needing saving by the girl boss.

Could list tons more but that's just a snapshot of one companies decisions to push forward a very specific agenda to the detriment of making good entertainment. And Disney have suffered huge financial damage from it.

Can throw in their butchering of the Star Wars IP, Indiana Jones IP, Amazon butchering the LoTR IP etc.

Bud Light was almost cat crash bad, a beer linked with frat boys, working class drinking places and tailgate parties, and they launched a huge campaign with the ad campaign centering on a trans guy drinking it in the bath in full make up, who on earth did they think these ads would appeal too and what did they think their existing customer bsse would react like to it?

Funny thing is this is the type of stuff that turns people against the very ideas they apparently want to push. Why because it's so blatant and almost like an indoctrination

I couldn't care less mate, i'm looking at it from their perspective. Inclusion can only be a good thing in my opinion.
