Surely if he does go on to Arsenal or Barcelona he'll have had to have done a fantastic job at Everton?
The last time I looked the worlds premiere clubs weren't in the habit of employing managers who've done mediocre/average jobs?
I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want him to do a fantastic job at Everton.
Even before Koeman got the job with us his future ambitions were clear and I had no doubt that he probably wasn't looking to be here for the long term.
Having a manager who couldn't speak highly enough of Everton who is also actually a world class manager is a rarity. Martinez always used to speak very well and positively, even when things were dire though at that stage his inability to admit and face up to our failings grew very tiresome.
He's said numerous times we are a big club and whilst his comments weren't smart there are the bracket of elite clubs such as Real Mardrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich who operate on totally different levels to us.
We'd all love to have a manager who is compassionately tied to us with unflinching loyalty. But it just doesn't happen enough today. Our aims are mutual. We want to progress so we can improve many sectors - First and foremost league position and success, and other areas such as stadium, commercial incomes, squad, facilities, marketability and so on. We need a manger like Koeman to make a progressive start.
But he needs us. He needs to do well. If finishing twelfth can get Martinez the Belgium job, then being a success with Everton could hold the key for him to maybe be a candidate for the top jobs. Our progression is mutually dependent and I have no problem with that. Just hopefully he's a bit more respectful in the future when he talks about it.
