The club know they are restricted by FFP policies until a new stadium can be provided to increase the commercial side of the club. So Top 10 then we'll see from there.

Money or otherwise, Koeman didn't come here for top 10 mate. that would be a step down from southampton if it were true.

His job is europa, until we show any sign of going beyond that. He gets europa, job done.

Get paid a nice wedge, play as much golf as possible, and pop round to his good mate Pep's for tea now and again.

Improve the playing squad as much as he can, finish between 10th and the Europa League places, maybe get a good cup run or two in while he's here.

Ultimately maintain or improve his stock until a better job comes along.

The FFP play rules actually allow us to make a 100 million pound loss over the course of three years. The idea that we are restricted to a 7 million pound increase in expenditure just isn't true, and that's without acknowledging the fact that the sale of Stones raised our revenue by 50 million pound, and the forthcoming sale of Lukaku will bring in a minimum of 65 million.

the £7M refers only to wage increases for the time being

Not when your revenue has just increased by 50 million pound. Honestly, people spent months in the summer talking about how the sale of Stones was needed in order for us to move on from our 2007 mid table wage structure, and now everyone is acting like it never happened and are placing non-existent wage restrictions on ourselves.

This.

He already reminds me of late era Moyes.......take no risks, just make sure you keep the ship steady until Ferguson retires.

But whatever you do, make sure your reputation doesn't suffer in the meantime.

And making remarks about Lukaku needing a "bigger club" is a coded way of saying "so do I".

Or saying City were "the best team I have ever came up against".

Or saying that Chelsea "outclassed us" neatly points the finger of blame for those performances away from himself.

we spent almost all of that we received in the summer so we could not increase our wages by that much. Moshiri wants to stay within ffp rules. it's a balancing act, for us, and for all premier league teams.

This is ridiculous. People are desperate to excuse our lack of spending, it's almost like they find some kind of security in being a perpetual also-ran. So if the Stones money was needed to fund transfer activity alone, why were people harping on for months about how the sale of Stones was required in order to move on from our 2007 midtable wage structure?

The extra 50 million in revenue from the sale of Stones allows us to significantly increase our out dated wage bill. It could be easily argued that our negative net spend in the transfer window was funded through other revenue streams. We are also allowed to make losses totaling 100 million over three years under FFP. But at present, we have seen no change to the transfer strategy that we were employing 10 years ago.

To be honest I don't blame him doing what I posted. If he leaves us in a stronger position than when he joined us, fine. The stadium and commercial aspects will take a fair few years, and aren't down to him. All he can really do is improve the squad and finish as high as possible in the league. Hopefully that is in the european qualification places. If he wins anything, which we'd obviously all love, then bonus. What we need most is a solid platform for when we move into our new home.

He's said he wants to qualify for Europe (so top 7).

He actually said that in his first (or one of his first) pressers.

That's the plan for the club as well (in the short term). Moshiri confirmed this.

It isn't an idea. Moshiri confirmed this. I'm going to go with him rather than you tbh

I'm sure @The Esk can explain it better, but you probably wouldn't listen like.
