I made very good friends with some magpies a couple of years ago. They'd even come and eat worms etc off my hand. Mrs B and my kids thought I was bonkers but, well, not always easy to make new friends so I made the most of it.

Certainly over here at least magpies have a penchant for pecking at the foil tops of delivered milk bottles, my parents and brother all got quite ill a few years ago after drinking from a bottle that one of those winged bar stewards had helped itself to.

Magpies down under are different I do believe. Much bigger than northern hemisphere ones. Very intelligent and do remember friendly people as well as non friendly.
I take my hat off to you for still having milk delivered. Sounds very civilized
