Shepherd's pie.
There's an interesting YouTube channel called Tasting History were this chap (American) investigates the history of old recipes, then cooks them. He's very good, and I watched one today on the history of Welsh Rarebit.
The first printed recipe was : buttered toast - cheese, butter, ale, mustard and cayenne pepper melted in a pan until combined and then poured onto said toast. Apparently, there was also Scotch rarebit as well as English rarebit.
