Good character-driven performance. No complaints. Koeman made an error and fixed it. Job done against a dangerous side from set pieces.
That's a key difference from him and his three predecessors.

Something ain't working? Fair enough, change it.

Most refreshing following Martinez' stubbornness, David '75 mins and not before' Moyes and Walter 'Very Dissapointed ' Smith.

Sorry mate, but you seem to have a short memory there. Cast your mind back to Martinez's first season here and you'll remember Martinez was given a lot of credit that season for making telling subs and acting with a boldness that Moyes never showed.

What comes round goes round, I suppose. It'll be Koeman's turn in three or four years.

No that's fair enough, Martinez' first season did have him making changes earlier. I seem to remember making a similar point then in his favour.

Yet all of a sudden it stopped.

He stopped doing that though. That was one of the problems in the subsequent seasons

Just home. Sat in the home end with my baggies mate who wasn't too happy but NEA. Holgate was brilliant once he got moved to right back and Bolasie looked good when he came on. I'm happy.

Fed off the buzz of winning and the fans pushing for three points every game first season. Thereafter when it became a struggle to get results he stood and watched - frozen with fear and unable to act.

Lost his nerve in the end. Coaches the right way though, and he'll underline it again at Belgium when he'll at least have some stand up men in the defence instead of the church mice he had here.

You give McCarthy a 3 but his substitution was a tactical one to change formation, not because he was having a bad game. McCarthy wasn't any worse than anyone else the formation just wasn't working.

I see that. I realise my ratings were a little harsh anyway. I put 3 just because at that point he was ineffective, just as most other players were to that point in the game too. Had the game finished at the point of the substitution a lot more would have had a 3 too. I just struggle to see how McCarthy has performed well enough since his first season.
