We're chit, and we're going down - but why does nobody in the media think so?

Agreed, a big part of our game plan seems to hinge on the opposition spooning all of their chances a la Crystal Palace who should’ve wrapped it up inside of 3 minutes.

We can’t just rely on riding our luck, it’s honestly beyond belief.

If you go by "expected" goals we only have Bournemouth and Swansea at home where we were 1 goal clear of the opponent on measured chances.

It has happened against us 10 times.

However the whole league is a pile of rubbish from 6th down, we aren't the luckiest team around, just one of a number of useless teams.

True someone made a good point yesterday we hardly ever control a match. Even the ones we have won we have just scored a few goals and defended, we haven't dominated a team and controlled the game on many occasions this season.
Nobody in the team to contol midfield. So we dont have the ball most of the time. We are only reacting and a lot of time it is to slow and to late. Midfield is key. Everton got NOTHING in midfiled.

Do any league predictor you want and it's next to impossible to see us going down if we get to around 37-38 points.

And as bad as we are, we're still top half and with the run in we have there's next to no chance we don't scrape to that mark at the very minimum, and we'll probably finish on around 42 points.

We're safe. We're also the worst side in the league, but we're safe regardless.

We aren’t safe until we get those points. This team looks very capable of losing 10 on the trot.

No we're actually all but mathematically safe. It'd take an unimaginably bad run of form now for us to go down. We need three/four points from a possible 27; as bad as we've been, we've took 6 from the last 15 available.

To put it into context, if the same form continued from all the sides for the next nine games, we'd still finish comfortably safe in around 13th, because the seven sides in the bottom places right now are somehow in even worse form than us. I'm all for avoiding complacency, but there's a danger of people looking at things in a bubble because of how grim we are - they're not noticing how grim other sides are too.

If the league was in any way competitive, we'd already be down. But we lost yesterday to the side in 7th and they were dreadful - we've got games (at home as well) against sides much worse than them. And we strangely have the players who can pop up for the odd moment in the odd game and produce a moment of magic.

We won't go down. That's not worth throwing the bunting up about like but we won't go down. The initial run under Allardyce saved us, but we totally deserve to go down.

I think Unsworth deserves some credit too, as those seven points we gained under him, could in reality be the ones to keep us up.

Ps - your right about the teams underneath us.

West Brom are down, so it`s now down to two teams.

Newcastle, Stoke and Huddersfield somehow are in worse form than us right now.

One out of those three, will deffo go down imo.

Things aren`t great at West Ham either and I`m reading about a protest against the board, before the next home game too.

It`s a good job there`s teams that are more messed up than us :(

Next 2 games are massive. Don’t win either of these we are in big trouble !

It is amazing how so many on here are blinding themselves to this very real threat.

Allerdyce has talked us back into a position where relegation is still a niggling worry when if he had tried at all from Boxing Day onwards we might already be comfortable in 7th place and looking for a late surge to threaten free falling Arsenal.

But no.....he could never look up that table after the initial good run and see what was possible.

He was always looking behind him

That’s the big problem. Lack of belief and leadership both on and off the pitch. A couple of months ago I would of said we are far to good to go down but now it’s a real possibility if we don’t starting picking up points from games we should be winning ...

Only reason we should stay up is our home form. We need six points so just as I thought we would never get 7th because of our awful away form and a negative fatheaded manager, I don't think we will go down either. But make no mistake this is a hotpotch shambles of a team. The Brighton game ia huge and they haven't lost in six I am hoping Arsenal can dent them a bit today.

Hows that working out for you :p
