We're chit, and we're going down - but why does nobody in the media think so?

I genuinely don't get all this optimism. Have people not been watching us this season? Talking as if it's a given that we'll win our home games against non top six sides. It's the same weird assumption that's being made in the media, like there's nothing to worry about because we'll get enough points somehow. We're absolutely appalling, I'm concerned for every single game we go into.
Saying we won't get relegated isn't exactly optimism friend

I remember this song being sung quite often during our terrible years in the 90s, with but "you're" instead of "we're", and another word instead of "chit".

I genuinely don't get how literally all of those in the media are talking as if we're safe and will be in the Premier League next season. Have they not seen our form? Do they not see we only realistically have three games left we can win this season? Forget all away games and forget City and Liverpool at home, our only winnable games now are Brighton, Newcastle and Southampton at home. We're quickly being sucked into the relegation mix and seemingly everybody in the media is oblivious to it?

Why?
Who’s we’re Lad.

Because maybe this once they might know what they are talking...or in their case, Not, talking about?

No, were not technically 'safe' and a 'Perfect Storm' could sink us...but with all the other gasher teams, its a case of 'nothing to see here'

Media Editor; what he just said...*flings copy back at reporter, now if you want to bring me a piece on moshiri knowing absolutely 'k all, Kenwright, Elstone, Allardyce and Walsh need sacking and stuff, well knock yourself out.

Brighton is a must win, should we lose that, we then have Stoke away, we will lose that. Then City and RS at home...ouch can see us getting 3 points out of 12.

If we beat Brighton then we should be safe, if we lose then it will be in the paper that where in trouble

All of this confidence scares me. We're arguably the second worst team in the league, not dangerous at up all front and a shambles in defence. For once the league table does lie.

If we are...and I can find a number of points on which to agree with you...the table might lie but he numbers on it don't. All the teams below us have 9 or 19 games to disprove that lie. Theoretically it can happen - but they won't, some might, if the players get their flip flops on early, but not enough to put us in the poo

Picturing Moyes' post game presser after they send us down and keep themselves up: "Well obviously I'm delighted we got the win to keep ourselves up, but I really feel for those Everton fans because they deserve better than what they've been given this season."

I think they all post on here.

I get the sense from both Gerrard and McManaman they are sad to see it and have respect for the club. No gloating, just hard analysis.

Yes, that is to be expected I suppose.

Despite their RS connections both would have grown up around Evertonians.

McManaman, never a full on cultist any old way, grew up supporting Everton and I remember reading about him in a magazine article about his life in Madrid where he said that when he played training games at Melwood as a young player he used to yell “Latchforrrrrrd....” when he rose to head a ball toward the net lol

And Slippy grew up in a mixed family and his uncle famously dressed him in an Everton kit to photograph him at Goodison with the League title trophy in 1987.

Exactly - they arguably understand the football culture and history of the city and by extension both clubs.

I've never quite understood the full on loathing that's developed in some quarters over the years.

Only reason we should stay up is our home form. We need six points so just as I thought we would never get 7th because of our awful away form and a negative fatheaded manager, I don't think we will go down either. But make no mistake this is a hotpotch shambles of a team. The Brighton game ia huge and they haven't lost in six I am hoping Arsenal can dent them a bit today.

True someone made a good point yesterday we hardly ever control a match. Even the ones we have won we have just scored a few goals and defended, we haven't dominated a team and controlled the game on many occasions this season.

Agreed, a big part of our game plan seems to hinge on the opposition spooning all of their chances a la Crystal Palace who should’ve wrapped it up inside of 3 minutes.

We can’t just rely on riding our luck, it’s honestly beyond belief.
