We must never leave Goodison

Building a 'larger' stadium is not necessarily the way forward. Juventus actually built a smaller stadium. You dont know-in 20 years time we may have attendances of 20000 for whatever reason. Do larger stadiums/shared stadiums work? Not necessarily (especially considering the goofy Management at Everton). But an 'iconic' stadium to usurp the rs ? the Kings Dock type thing-maybe..I dunno tbh...

Yes, but surely all the evaluative work has concluded that a larger stadium (capacity) is essential to boost revenue, in order to progress the Club? We can't afford to plan for such a drastic drop in gate attendances, and anyway such a bleak scenario is highly unlikely unless the Club continues to spiral down the plughole.

Well i guess i could easily spare my blushes and say that it's a p155take.

But in actual fact, it's more of a m155take! I guess i should have noticed the quotation marks around the post.

D'oh!
i hoped you were taking it to another level by deliberately misunderstanding franks post

They paved paradise and put up a parkin' lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got till it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

Wiser words have never been sung..........

A favourite song of mine.

But lets be honest here, you own the Blue Dragon dont you?

I think you're misinterpreting the song there, Frank. My take on it is that she is singing about an inner city green area that has been paved over to provide more parking space, to pander to commercial needs at the expense of the spritual needs of society. This sort of thing was happening a lot during the commercial boom of the 1960s when the song was written.

Joni is a goddess and a genius of songwriting imo. Her lyrics are poetry, and yes, as a result sometimes idealistic as opposed to realistic. She is a true hippie child. One of my favourite albums is her very first, Song To A Seagull: stripped-down acoustic songs with achingly beautiful lyrics. Joni can paint vivid pictures with her words.

Just my opinion of course....... :)
Joni Mitchell is one of my favourite ever singer-songwriters and artists

Can't you just knock down all those dodgy looking houses around it and make it bigger???

It's not rocket science here people.

most of the houses are full of red noses,no doubt they would stay for a big sum to put us in more debt.and get one over us..but that is the best option.

Goodison is a major part of Everton's identity. Every sports fan in the world (other than those in the non-footie countries like the States and Canada) immediately recognizes it when they see it on tv.

I think any new stadium should be built to look as much like it as possible.

We need a new stadium to increase revenue that is cost\time effective. Building on a new site would be much cheaper and more viable to build other supporting infastructure around it than to redevelop GP. I'd prefer us to build a new stadium so we can compete with the tops clubs rather than redevelop GP and end up in the situation we are in now, in 10 years time, when all the other teams have built better revenue generating stadiums than what we have.

The irony lies in the fact that many of the people who opposed the ground move to Kirkby are the same people who are shouting their mouths off about the board and the lack of money.

Not necessarily. Major League Baseball figured out with the latest wave of stadium construction that by making the capacity smaller, you create demand for tickets where it didn't exist before. Then you fill the stadium with all sorts of amenities that cost money and you get rich off of that. People get excited to attend games at a full house, not a half-filled barn.

Of course, Major League Baseball also extorts communities to pay for their stadiums by threatening to move to a different city. They've elevated that crap to an art form.

(y) Mine too. Check out Song To A Seagull if you haven't already done so. Simple acoustic songs, but utterly beautiful imo, the soulful outpourings of a young woman, before life got in the way.......

Back on topic please . .

Blue's my favourite Joni album

*cd going on now, back in 33 mins
