I am no medical expert, but I would be amazed if its proper flu. A virus was the reported condition. As a lad with young kids, could have picked it up from them at this time of year, or, just as likely, from a mate.

People die from proper flu. But not from a common virus.

A bad cold can easily put a player out for 10 days or so.

Proper flu and you'd be out for 2-3 weeks minimum.
