I would like to see Rooney stay, but, I cannot see a way for him to get in the current starting 11. Therefore he is either; coming off the bench, starting cup games or waiting for someone to get injured and with no European football, I can see that he would possibly like to go somewhere where he will start every week. Also the money from the USA sounds good.

He can stay another year for me, he’s a great leader, but he can’t expect to be a starter if we bring in a few quality players this summer, or he’ll have to play out of his skin to earn that first team place.

I wasn't all too keen on bring him in but I think he's worked hard, picked out a great pass or 2 and bagged some goals. He's one of our better players and could probably do a better job under a manager who's idea of a great pass is a 60 yard hoof out of play. However he's only got about 1-2 years left, this isn't going to be a quick rebuild and we are going to have to get younger.

MLS is good for him. He can take games off, have a decreased fixture list and add a few years to his career.

Aside from the supposed 'if he stays I go' Rooney stance on Allardyce, does he merit a place in our starting 11? On his form in the second half of the season I'd say no. Wouldn't concern me if both he and Allardyce went.
We're going to have to start afresh all over again. The sooner the better.
