Walking

Was walking Scafell Pike with my wife one time on the same day as a big Lakes challenge - think it was the four 3000 ft summits, everyone had a number on their back, started Keswick and come over Helvellyn. Proper hard walk that and some folk were absolutely wrecked, like unsteady on their feet at Mickledore.
We passed this guy standing still somewhere on the corridor route down, and me not being the most aware person just walked past him with a blokish 'alright mate'. Fortunately my wife was more perceptive and realised he was in a bad state - had nothing left. Ended up walking him down to Wasdale Head where he could get a taxi.

I'm thinking of getting some ski poles for hill walks. How much do good ones cost? I presume they don't come in different sizes but extend as required.

Leki do a lot of decent options but can be expensive. Have a look at what type of poles would be best suited, mostly down to what type of walking you want to do.

Decent guide there.

bump for this now that some fine weather is here - anyone been out on the hills?
Did a nice one the other week to Lud's church. It's a chasm that's thought to have been used as a Holy place of worship for millenia - North Staffordshire just past the Roaches, in Gradbach woods - short walk so nothing too strenuous. Very atmospheric and a nice part of the world - couple of good alehouses nearby in Wincle.

Was also out in the Lakes cycling on Sat - gorgeous day. Garburn pass then up Gatesgarth to Harter Fell, Nan Bield descent. Superb but deleted the legs.

Off to Loweswater on Sunday for three days of fell running / walking around Loweswater and Buttermere.

Weather looking good, got a b and b booked in a cracking country pub and no missus / kids :celebrate:

Will post pics ;)

Snowdon end of June. Brilliant weather. Taken towards the summit walking the Llanberis trail.

On a side note, it's getting stupid at the summit now, especially when the weather is hot. Takes about an hour to get to the actual summit just from sheer volume of people.
Great pic, i love Snowdon, but hate people haha last week i went up to Carnedd Llewelyn, was fantatsic, did see a few people like but only one all day face to face, and had that summit to myself. If you fancy it look for the Gwern Gof Isaf Campsite campsite on the A5, you can leave your car there at the owners house for 2 quid

I used to get the bus from Fort William to Glasgow about once a month when I was younger.
Now my wife has decided she would like us to walk the west highland way for her 50th birthday next year.

I think I prefer the bus.
