Walking

As I do a lot of hill walking and I couldn't seem to find a thread about it, I thought I'd start one.

In the next few weeks I am going to try and do this walk: www.walkingenglishman.com/northyorkshire11

Starting to get some preparation for July when I am walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.

But for anyone who already enjoys it and anyone that is interested; post any suggested walks in here, any tips and advice, pictures and routes.

@wainwright likes this.

my dad is a keen walker, him, me, my son, my little bro and little sis are all walking in the Caucasus mountains in Georgia in a few weeks.
Basically mountains between Russia and Iran, bears, wolves and weirdos abound
I thought Georgia looked like a good holiday destination from what Ive seen on the telly - anyone been? reviews?

Got three day stay booked in July walking and running around Buttermere.

The landscape / fells around there are less “ green “ and more bleak.

I wanted to go there as it’s less touristy, having done all the usual stuff in the past - Cat Bells, Old Man, Helvelyn etc.

It’ll be a mix of fell running one day and waking the next.

Can’t wait.
I once did the harsh incline at Cat Bells after having about twenty plus pints at the Keswick beer festival the day before. Words can't describe the feeling!

I'm still a keen walker in and around the Merseyside area (much prefer it to driving etc.) but I don't get further afield these days as much as I would like.

I did similar last year the night before walking up Coniston Old Man,

We were properly worried about one of the lads with us, as he went grey and started shallow breathing half way. That’s what happens when you mix, Ale, wine, whisky and port !!!!

Ps - the Sandstone Trail in Frodsham etc is a good local walk.

We were all in a horrendous state as we were 'walking' (clambering) up - spewing, palpitations et al. - so was genuinely surprised we finally reached the top

Obviously, the only way to rectify the horrible feelings we endured and celebrate our success was to drink about ten pints in the Odd Fellows when we got down.

Went out in the sun today for a walk around Entwhistle Reservoir in Darwen. Pretty relaxed, generally flat, mostly folk walking their dogs and families with pushchairs. But there are plenty of little routes through the woods and it's about a 5 mile round trip. Some decent pubs nearby too.
