I have, and have always had, some great mates who are reds and that won't change anytime soon.
There's no doubt the hatred between both sets of fans has got worse over the years since the 'Merseyside Merseyside' chants of the 1980s.
If I had to say what I dislike about them the most is the utter denial of the damage done to us by Heysel. You get comments such as 'you wouldn't have won it anyway' as if we shouldn't be arsed at losing two rightful cracks at European Cups. Given how offended they get at the slightest thing, I would loved to seen what they would have said had another clubs fans got them banned while at their absolute peak.
We may well not have won a European Cup, and they constantly point to the fact we didn't win anything in 85/86 as evidence. Well, Forest in 1980, Villa in 1982 and hey, Liverpool themselves in 2005, are English clubs to have won the big one without winning anything domestically so that 'point' they come out with is total c**p.
Us with a longer memory with recall after their treble in 84 and we won the FA Cup they patronizingly tapped us on the head saying 'that's a good little side you've got there' then a year later when it was us who so nearly won a treble and they finished empty handed for the first time in around 10 years we got bitter comments about 'how many league titles/European Cups have you won?
They constantly call us bitter, but when the trophies dried up and LFC fell off the pace and Man Utd and Chelsea became the dominant forces United and Chelsea fans had to hear hugely bitter comments such as 'United only win things because that Ferguson has referees and the FA in his pocket'. Chelsea's success is all down to 'being a rich mans plaything, buying the title, ruining the game, no history' etc etc. They've even had the high and mighty to question how the Chelsea owner made his money.
Some Liverpool fans are so bitter they were even supporting Man Utd in the 85 cup final against us and were busy chanting 'there's only one Norman Whiteside' at Blues in the Goodison derby 5 days after his winner at Wembley.
That all said, I don't hate LFC I just dislike them with a passion but will always support them over Hillsborough and the injustice over that horrible day in Sheffield.
