I agree Dave, I am not saying he is perfect or complete and he can improve, but i dont think he has a weakness in his game. With the Stones money it would deffo be worth a substantial bid its probably not going to come off, but I think our only chance (and it is a small chance) to get him is this window, if we wait for the summer and he continues to impress I can see one of the elite clubs getting him and I don't mean just in our league.

The only thing we have to sell is the link with Koeman..,and who knows whether that's a plus - the lad might not fancy a second spell under him.

I think that was down to us being determined to hold onto Stones. If Chelsea had come in with a bid of £40M he'd have gone and VVD would have been his replacement.

We would have to offer him exceptional wages and if he buys in to our 'project' then why not?

Costa is being offered a deal for £30M! That's a quarter of our stadium cash!

I seriously doubt Van Dijk is arsed about projects at a club 7th in the PL when the continents biggest clubs are beating a path to his door.

Do you suggest we shouldn't even try? Whats wrong with the club submitting an offer and if the club or player refuse then move onto the next guy.
I don't think he will ever become available because am sure Southampton would never want let him go, but if you make them and him an offer they cant refuse. Your making it sound like we are trying to get Messi away from Barcelona.
