Transfer Rumour Virgil van Dijk

I think we have a good chance of landing VVD.
He would be the basis of our back 4 and have the defence built around him.
He already knows Koeman, and respects him.
We are trying to break the cartel at the top, not with just hope, but with a long term goal of making Everton an elite force.

When Lescott and Jags were playing as the best CD partnership in the league they had many suitors.
We where on the verge of the top 4 and could have won the cup (but for cruel long term injuries ripping out Yak, Arteta and Jags).

Lescott left that summer...

For 8th placed Manchester City.

I think we have a 1% chance of signing him and that's me being generous.

They have about the 5th wealthiest owner in the league and have done for a whilst mate, they still sell anyone for the right price.

Would they turn down a record fee for a cb and 30 odd million profit, not a chance in hell

You never know mate - like I said I live in hope. Even if its not VVD then hopefully there is a similar level or status of target in the pipeline - very interesting times!

If martinez had of just listened to mikey Fitzgerald a year ago we could have gotten him for a third of the price he's going for now. We need to somehow encourage these managers to read GOT and they might finally help us reach the UCL

With respect mate, and I'm sure you're conscious of this from this very link, can I suggest you take your own advice here and not make a lot of threads in to a Koeman v Martinez battle.
Apart from a discussion of past managers in a historical sense, I honestly would never talk about Martinez if others didnt. The default response by some to any statement I make about any subject is to drag Martinez into it...whatever the thread or subject matter is. Surely that is seen?

we'd also have bloody leigh griffiths up front ha. Think it's best to leave the professionals to do their job than listen to these forums, otherwise we won't half end up with some tosh ha
