I like having the audacity to put ourselves in the mix for a player most assume will be well out of our reach. That's what i want! The reality is Southampton are likely to sell Fonte this January and I seriously doubt they'll want to lose both CB's this winter but money talks and they've sold prize assets almost every transfer window so you never know.

The Koeman factor shouldn't be underestimated here.

I can't see any other clubs paying the £50m we would this window, and VVD knows that Koeman was a huge influence in his progression.

The lad seemed pretty happy to be at Southampton in his post match interview on Tuesday.

He was looking forward to the 2nd leg against the RS and the possibility of a final.

He won't be joining Everton in January.
