Villas-Boas on Lukaku

you have to wonder why the media etc kick up a storm over lloris continuing after a ko and not lukaku when he got knocked out in the west ham match... definitely a case of double standards from media/fans/doctors etc.

I think cos it was a televised game and it was a giant of a man colliding with a keeper's face. Then the whole 7 mins of will he/won't he continue, while the game was stalled cos it was the keeper injured.

Lukaku's was less high profile given when and how it happened.

What a complete and utter bellend.

Firstly, he didnt have the balls to tell Lloris to come off, the medical staff, team captain and other players were telling him to come off. If you watch AVB he just stood there and watched.

Secondly, I admire the speed and bravery at which Lloris came out to collect the ball, but the reply from behind the goal shows Lukaku did move his leg slightly and its clearly a case of Lloris smashing into him and not the other way around. AVB felt his goalkeeper was fit to carry on, Martinez took his player off because of the injury caused by Lloris. Has Lloris phoned him to apologise?

And dont get me started on Soldados elbow on Jags. Straight red card, how he has not been done is a complete and utter joke

I think Lukaku could have done more to get out of the way there.

He's not a 'Hunt' but he's not trying to prevent any damage to Lloris.

I actually think he does but that's beside the point - why should he? You could say Lloris makes no attempt to get out the way of Lukaku. If the ball's there to be win you've for to try and win it. Sometimes they get hurt, sometimes you do. Way it goes.

WHAT?
I've timed it 0:00.34 secs from Lloris catching the ball to Lukuka making contact. A 6ft plus beast running full pelt. Tell me what he could have done?

He only managed to plant his left foot once, which you can clearly see he used to attempt to change direction.

I'm pretty sure if he had pulled out of the attempt to get the ball sooner, or the keeper had done likewise, both managers would have been having words after the game with their respective players. It's the type of ball you expect both players to go for.

What you don't expect is a manager and physio staff to allow a player who's had a serious head injury to continue playing

But, if you watch the full incident Lukaku is always going to be second to the ball, so he's got a lot more than 0.34seconds to move out of the way.

Think it was careless from Lukaku rather than malicious.

Lukaku could have made a bit more of an effort to get out of the way, yeah. So could Lloris.

99 times out of 100 that collision happens with no one getting hurt. As everyone else has said, it's a sad attempt on AVB's part to deflect the criticism he is rightfully receiving.
