What is the exact rule here considering the ball hitting Tarkowski's arm? Clearly he couldn't do anything about it but then on the other hand, any handball leading to a goal has been previously resulted disallowing the goal...

I believe if the ball is played onto it as close as it was, and the arm is in a natural position (which it was) then there is no foul...

It's extremely close on the offside as far as I can see. Not as clear cut as was said.

I wasn't trying to justify the poor refereeing decision to call a foul I was just saying what the clown Gallagher had said which allowed them to gloss over the poor initial decision

Yeah I heard his comments and he was insistent it was offside. When you look at a wider angle I'm not sure its clear.

I'm not saying its definitely onside but I dont think I've seen evidence that shows its definitely offside either. The more wider and overhead angle makes it look like 2 defenders are beyond the goalkeeper.

Anyway, it happened and its over. We cant do anything about it.

Referee's are not making any calls, because they know they don't have to. Furthermore, any calls that are made are subject to further subjective opinion, which just muddies the water. Scrap it, let the human error exist in the game and get on with it.

I can't remember the exact details. But I'm sure the FBI were appointed to investigate FIFA corruption due to USA having invested interests in it. But I'm not sure if that means FIFA causing harm to the US national team or otherwise. But there are definite US investments in the premier league.
I might be way off the mark. But just wondering.

Just heard of this incident on radio and subsequent comments by another ex referee Mark Halsey. Shouldn't surprise us regards Mike Dean but Halsey more or less admitted that friendship amongst refs coloured decisions.
We ain't got a chance.

If hes done that as the VAR ref, you can guarantee he done it to save himself from having a hard time when he was refereeing on the pitch.

This is only public confirmation of what many of us have known for some time. Its been blatantly obvious, its only now they arent trying to hide it anymore. The issue with VAR has nothing to do with VAR, because the true issue is with the referees. Until they hare held accountable after each match, and a performance based system is in play this will continue. Any untouchable group with power will always be corrupt.

This statement proves that they only care about themselves, and do NOT care about the game. Its a frank admission of their priorities. The individual referees are far more important to the sport in their mind, and will continue to be until someone makes them change. VAR or no VAR does not change this a bit. The one big advantage to VAR is it exposes it, where otherwise it would be easier for them to hide. For that reason VAR needs to stay and people need to keep calling for change to the referees until the "old guard" are gone.
